Prince NEVER kicked off an album THAT strong as Parade with three beauties such as Christopher Tracy's Parade, New Position, I Wonder U.
I can still visualize the place at my mum's living room at the time when I played it for the very first time. It was a direct slap in the face, but OMG, I loved it. Another shock, as much as 'ATWIAD' was, after Purple Rain.
Those drums, pretty much the whole sound was new for the time.

I totally agree with 4everyours and honestly believe Prince never managed musically to be that much avantgardist than with this album and of course Lovesexy.
Nowadays, I look more forward to his gigs than his albums. Somehow, he manages to 'over R&B produce' his songs. (Couldn't find another way to describe it .)
