Just viewed "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" What a great guitar solo by Mr. Nelson absolutely phenominal.
I am late to view it but loved it. This is why it is dangerous to fall in love with musicians because your heart lands on the floor and nobody is there to pick it up after a performance like that. Being a pre- performer in a symphony myself ya give it all and yet when done your an empty room. Take care much love me!

i've viewed the video mega-tinuously and find something new and unique each time prince solos in the song. also i luv the way tom petty seems to give prop-recognition to prince's guitar skills.

That's what we get when Prince is challenged while playing guitar. You can tell about Prince's Future , but his Past is utterly unpredictable

Since 2004 I'm still trying to understand why people think this is a grrrrreat guitar solo.
Imho, it isn't that remarkable. He's done much better.

Imho, it isn't that remarkable. He's done much better. I kind of agree with you. It's good and Prince certainly doesn't embarrass himself but a lot of folks were claiming that it was the greatest guitar solo in the history of popular music when, as you pointed out, it was arguably not even Prince's greatest guitar solo. For me I think the last few minutes of "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)" from Small Club is much more impressive. I thought Prince looked a little silly when he fall back into that guys arms. Prince being small and the dude that caught him being fairly large Prince kind of looked like a small child when the guy pushed him up on stage. However, I don't want to come off completely negative. It was fantastic to see Prince in the spotlight and interacting (kind of) with other famous musicians. Anytime Prince gets a chance to shine in a huge spotlight like that is a good thing. It was definitely a great effort on his part and I think he impressed a lot of non fans with the performance.

Imho, it isn't that remarkable. He's done much better. Sure, but it's not his record .... that's why people (non-prince fans) are in shock at how he can transfer his skills to any song! A first class guitar solo Eye Was Born & Raised On The Same Plantation In The United States Of The Red, White And Blue Eye Never Knew That Eye Was Different Til Dr. King Was On The Balcony
