Prince Rap Album - I need some help

I'm compiling and all rap Prince album for a friend of mine who happens to be a hardcore hip-hop fan (not very old-school but he completely digs 90s rap). He asked me if Prince has done rap songs and I told him yeah, and then he asked me for this all rap Prince compilation, as a personal favour; well, I know some rap songs of the man, but not many, mainly because I don't care that much about Prince the rapper...
So I need your help; I want a list of, at least, 15 Prince's hip/hop-rap songs... Oh, I'm trying to impress the guy so please, no songs like Jughead lol , or hybrids like Love to the 9's, I want GOOD & PURE rap/hip-hop tracks.

Thanks in advance! wink

So far I've chosen myself:

-18 & Over
-Letitgo
-Lovesign
-Mr.Happy

Oh man, there are lots that could kinda fit in here. And as much shit as he gets for his hip hop leanings, I quite like most of these songs.

Gett Off
Sexy MF
Pussy Control
Now
Days Of Wild
Style
Joint To Joint
Emale
Come (Dancy Version)
Race
Funky Design
Come On (Remix)
Loveleft, Loveright
18 & Over
What's My Name?

I'm sure there are lots I'm forgetting, but these come to mind off the top of my head.

No, not at all!

Even "All The Critics" and "Lady Cab Driver" are kinda proto-rap.

If he's into 90's hip hop, don't forget Shock G's Silky Remix of Lovesign for that Digital Underground connection.
I'm not sure how 'impressive' an all rap Prince album's gonna sound.
I'd say try and make it fun rather than "good and pure".
lol

Totally wrong approach IMO. Let your friend try to appreciate what P REALLY is about, and don't compile a bunch of mediocre tracks just because they're "rap" in some way. If he won't like the "real" Prince, that is his best tracks, from the first listening, i doubt you'll "get him" with some tracks with raps, only.

we're talking about Prince, not fuckin' AC/DC (no offense); there's no Prince's essence, the man has evolved, has toyed with dozens of styles since 1978, there are many differents sides of Prince: Prince the ballader, Prince the mainstream pop hitmaker, Prince the funkster, Prince the experimentalist, Prince the neojazzer, Prince the rapper, etc.

And Prince has recorded some wicked rap songs; Jughead is mediocre, LoveSign is not...

My five cents...

Completely wrong. In the last 2 months or so, I turned a 25 year old kid onto Prince in a huge way by playing him songs that are more in his wheelhouse, meaning a lot of the more hip-hop and rap-based tracks, because that's what he is into. In fact that's all he's into. So I played him Incense & Candles, Mr. Goodnight, P Control, Face Down (live), etc. And after that mixed in a lot of the other styles. This approach does work. The reason I even played those songs for him was as an experiment to see if what Prince is doing when he explores these styles works with a contemporary urban fan or if he's just embarrassingly pointless. Apparently what Prince is doing works, if he could jsut get it heard.
