Ahh, I see. So would it really be taken this far if it wasn't going to be used?

Has anyone considered that a new prince release will constitute a ninth under that moniker:

1. The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
2. The Gold Experience
3. Chaos and Disorder
4. Emancipation
5. Crystal Ball
6. The Truth
7. New Power Soul
8. Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic

So therefore we're going 2 B treated 2 a good dose of Artist material - and I am looking forward to this project! The Artist has been severely ridiculed over the years. When I compiled the above list I was torn by the need to omit prince because it was credited 2 Prince and the New Power Generation...

Wouldn't it be generous to call "Crystal Ball" a prince
Also....it's kind of hard to separate prince from Prince. It wasn't like he was in a totally different state of mind....He was still Prince! I considered renaming the prince under that in my Ipod....has anyone done that?

That trademark is wide enough to cover the range of things that Prince usually brands, even if he's not thinking about something specific like a fragrance at this point.

For example, 3121 would have had a similar, if not identical trademark license, so that Prince could use it (which he did) for a variety of things, like:

the album
his website
the perfume
the 3121 merchandise
the (alleged) movie starring liza whateverhernamewaswiththebigtitties

He might use the name for nothing, one thing, a few things, or a whole range of things. This just means that, if he chooses to use the name, he can do so without worrying about anyone else claiming that they thought of it and suing him.

It seems likely that he's using it, but Prince being Prince, he could just cancel any intended usage on a whim and decide to do something else with a different name. It's by no means a guarantee of anything, but hey, it's something.

Bullshit. You started your impersonation crap up again 6 days after the trademark was entered and reported on this site, with a full blown thread 24 days after. You may be fooling some, but shouldn't, and you for sure need to take it off this thread.

I do a lot of trademark work as an attorney, and you'd be surprised at just how far clients will go without following through past this point. Here, Prince probably spent the $275 filing fee per class plus whatever his attorneys charged him for an hour or two of work. Prince has certainly spent more on other aborted projects by this point.

Good point!
Oh, it was $325 per class, 5 classes, so he paid $1,625 for the application...

Well friend to answer your specific question about "Crystal Ball" it was credited to prince as opposed to Prince. There is much confusion in how to credit Prince's body of work -- I personally think the majority of his "side projects" could be classified as "Prince" but they were conceived and marketed otherwise.

I really am aiming for discussion/speculation as to what specific prince "core" releases might constitute the NINE androdgynous albums. I think we have to disregard singles because then the number is much greater than nine. However, by that criteria I would have to exclude TMBGITW -- to date the most famous of all prince releases.

Let me guess -- we should discuss whether Prince is bald or not?

I am intrigued with this rumoured album, but whatever he releases I intend to get it. Have fun talking about Prince's hairy (not hairy!) ass, I will continue to obsess on the sounds.

there is nothing to discuss. they're Prince albums that he released during the time when he was calling himself prince

i never understand why people get so hung up on this, like there is some big difference between Prince and prince. does anyone think he wouldn't have made the exact same albums if he was still called Prince during those years?

Dude, I have never been interested in or participated in those discusions. That doesn't mean you're not being a bit ridiculous with your theories here.

Prince has never stopped using the symbol. The fact that it's in the Ebony ad does not mean he's going back to using it as his name. Smarten up.
