Tora Tora on WNPG

Anyone remember this radio show? I found it when I bought the Hallowed B Thy Name two CD set. The second disk has a Gold aftershow on it I believe that is stellar despite it being an audience recording). The after show was recorded Brussels 28/Mar/1995.

The WNPG radio show was Prince on the radio, disguised vocally as Tora Tora, hosting new songs like "Get Wild", "Cherry Cherry", and "The Good Life", plus Gold songs like "Now". The NPG were there talking to Tora Tora as well in between songs. Some songs were clips in the background like "If I Luv U 2 Nite", "Billy Jack Bitch", and "The Exodus Has Begun", whereas the others I named were pretty much played in full (although the "Get Wild" track was a remix, and only played half way through). The show was recorded on Radio 1 10/APR/1995. It's interesting because he refers to them having an "unauthorized copy of the now legendary recording of The Gold Experience by the artist formerly known as."

For some reason, as I don't own the CD anymore, I only had the segues of the show, not the music (ie: I didn't have the show intact) on MP3. I had long thought about doing this, but finally got my act together. I pulled the songs he used in the show off my CDs (the ones he played in full), and mixed them back with the segues I already had of him and the NPG talking. However, I let the full version of "Get wild [money maker funky jazz mix]" play, and I also played the full version of "The Exodus Has Begun" at the end (it aborts about 2 minutes in because the show ends).

The track list, as it was on the show, and in my file is (with the exceptions being that I put the full version of "Money Maker Funky Jazz" mix in, and the full version of "The Exodus Has Begun" as well. I had to replace ALL the tracks though, because, like I said, I only had the segues w/ Tora Tora and the NPG talking:
Intro w/ Tora Tora "Get wild (Money Maker Funky Jazz Mix)" in the background
"Get Wild (Get Wild In The House Mix)"
Segue
"Now"
segue
"The Good Life"
segue
"Cherry, Cherry"
segue with "Billy jack bitch" and "If I Luv U 2nite" [Mayte] in the background
"The Exodus Has Begun" outro.

I'm familiar with this little show. There's also a boot called Radio Shows on Orson Productions that feature this show and the 1989 KMOJ broadcast.

^^Interesting that it's only 25 minutes. My mp3 runs 38 minues. That's probably because of the whole versions of "Exodus" and "Get Wild". It's a fun show, and blows the Ahdio shows of NPGMC out of the water.

Yes, although I never understood what that was about, meaning I never knew the story if she had a stalker.

yes, I always wondered about that stalker comment. I've got this on a cdr, I'll have to dig it out and check the length

Yes, I actually heard it "live" on KMOJ in MPLS. They played it twice I believe.

"For real straight up the best rap wins!"

I used to wonder why they said "for real straight up" unless it was true.

I remember I called KMOJ to find out when they were going to replay it because I missed it the first time.

I asked when "New Power Generation Radio" was going to be on, and the nice female deejay told me it's on now, as in "we are the new power generation." But then it came on again and I taped it.

I only discovered these 2 shows last year and was amazed when i realized that the whole NPG Ahdio Shows concept, including the Tora Tora voice, had been birthed in 89 e.i. 11 years b4 NPGMC!

I miss these Ahdio Shows... Having them monthly just was THE shit!!! sad
