let me start by saying im not trying to cause contoversy, but i have 2 questions that make me curious.

in Anna Stesia he writes - "Have U ever wanted 2 play with someone so much
U'd take any one boy or girl?

and

Diamond and pearls "would you be a happy boy or a girl"

There is probably more but these 2 stand out recently, what are meant by these lyrics, or what do you think is meant by them, i have copped it all my life about prince's sexuality and felt the need to defend him all the time and then there is lyrics like this that fuel the jealous haters...

Make of them as you please, thought provoking lyrics are what they say on the tin...

anna stesia seems to be a very honest and lonely lyric. the 'boy or girl'
part just underlines the loneliness, to good effect imo.

diamonds & pearls seems, to me, like it was just a good fit, not really
something he was probably very bent on getting into the song. but there
are only so many things you can rhyme with 'pearls' and then there are
only so many adjectives you can put in front of girl in that particular
space in the song. so i'm guessing 'boy or a' was just there and it did
seem kinda right.

but in the end it's a silly lyric. it makes you imagine prince giving a
diamond or a string of pearls to a boy, and that's an image i somehow
just don't like.

Please let's not even go there with the lyrics-just enjoy them and Don't mess with D&P

The D&P lyric always intrigued me, too. I'd love to have people's interpretation on that. i never thought of it being a love song to his fans as mentioned above but y not? Other theories?

& while we're at it: "Gregory looks like a ghost". Greg Brooks? Why?

I agree with Isten. The Anna Stesia lyric seems meant genuinely to represent an existential uncertainty which includes sexual ambivalence.
D&P just seems like a throwaway song with throwaway lyrics. He did play around with a very bi image duing the d&P era (gangster glam vid, arsenio performance), whereas in the 90s it was less a bi thing as a genderfuck, "am I straight or gay" thing.

The D&P hate up in here is just
