I was at the Jam Of The Year concert in Minneapolis when Prince fell on his ass after sliding down a stage ramp. Hew threw the Symbol guitar he was playing down in disgust.

But the Grammy show featured his usual "bit" where he throws the guitar to a tech. Just like Genesia said about 20 times.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

How dare you even suggest that.

You don't know Prince's Guitar's finances and clearly don't know the meaning of the word broke.

Prince's Guitars must be worth billions and you don't know. Maybe they are disputing his tax bills.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

yea i watched it again too, and i def. think he threw it to the tech. it just looks different than it normally does because he doesn't do his usual "lift it, toss it in the air, and let it fall." he doesn't really lift it at all and then tosses it directly at the guy.

You asked for knowledge, and you're getting it. Prince regularly tosses his guitar, and there's alwasy someone there to catch it. Just like he used to do the splits, it's part of the act. You may want to believe that it was some spontanious act of bad-assery, but it wasn't. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I remember seeing an interview on some documentary from Princes guitar Manufacturer. He said he built the clouds etc with a neck that went through the entire body with the sides bolting on to it for extra strength. He said he still got "several" guitars back each month because either Prince had trashed them or he'd thrown them to the guitar tech and the tech dropped it/missed the catch/Prince threw it too hard etc.

If he's thrown it off stage its going to a guitar tech, however it dos'mt always go to plan.

The tech stands on the floor in front of the stage - out of the shot but within range of the toss.

Maybe you are that...never mind...

Like it was mentioned in the original post, you cant really tell. I guess no one can make any definate claims when you cant see it.

No friend, YOU can't really tell. He throws 'em to his roadies. Just like his "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" performance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame gig.

i havent watched the clip in question. but he definitely has thrown instruments to the ground. the one that hurt me the most (im a bassist) was on the rave 2000 dvd when he throws his bass to the ground and it just bounces across the stage for about 25 feet! so theres proof, on an official dvd, that it is NOT always thrown to somebody.

There are 2 specific points in the "Gold" video where you can see that there is a clear break. 2 shots. One shot of the front of his guitar and another of the back while he's playing the solo. HUGE (re-glued) crack by the bottom of alchemy part of the symbol toward the bottom of the guitar.

So i recently watched Prince's performance with Beyonce. At the end of the performance he whips off his guitar and throws it. I can't really tell if he threw it off stage to a roadie or not...looked like it wasn't planned and i dont know how someone could have caught that anyways...

Take a look and give me your knowledge!

P.S.: This is not another thread about Prince's guitars dissapearing into thin air either,

Of course, it is. rolleyes

There's no mystery. Prince tosses his guitars. He's done it for years.

He's thrown his guitars to the ground before. I remember he did it at the end of the Today Show performance of Zannalee, with the black symbol guitar, and he also did it with the gold symbol guitar as well, though I'm forgetting when. I do remember going to many a Paisley show in the mid-nineties and being close enough to notice the curly-cue thing was entirely broken off and glued back on. You may even be able to see it in the Gold video, as it was still broken then.

Do you know when that was? I was at the two Paradiso shows in Amsterdam 26/27th of March 1995. And at the end of the second show he threw one of his guitars down, not to a tech but on the floor and the curl broke off. I remember they had to glue it back on for the next show, that night in Ghent. I thought it was the purple one, not the gold one though.

Edit: The Gold video has is around 4:48

Yea it was in the summer of 95 when I noticed it at the Paisley shows. So I guess the mystery of how it got that way has been solved. It was definitely the gold one because the purple one wasn't around until 1999, I believe. The first one was gold, then came the black one, and the white one came during Emancipation. "Habibi," the purple one, came just before Rave I think. I could be wrong about that but I know it wasn't around during the Gold era.
