Any love for it? I dig the clubby techno beats or whatever production it is. I dig the lyrics as well. Sexy song.

Yep. Awesome song. It's one of only probably 3 or 4 that I really care for off the album. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

Iam far from a zealot Prince fan, but I dig most the album actually. Very then typical cut and paste production he used on this album (sample here, sample there), but I still dig most of it. Wasn't this the last song added to the album? The video had a slightly dark vibe (for Prince) as well.

LOVED it when I first got the album. Favorite track after "7". But that's the kind of thing I was into at the time. It's definitely fallen out of favor with me over the years.

Well, some of the "phone conversations" were a tad longer, but nothing earth shattering. I'd rather have "I Wanna Melt With U" than those segues. I cut the segues out of my track listing all together, including the one at the end of "Damn U" (I also deleted "Arrogance"). The album just flows better without them.

The album just flows better without them. The segues are annoying. Only one I dig is the one before "the sacrifice of victor", and thats only the end part with the "and why don't you tell me the truth....". I like that part, as it sounds funny next to the "what is sacrifice?" thats blurts out just seconds later. I think I might have the missing segues on a boot somewhere? What possessed them to put it on there is beyond me?

What possessed them to put it on there is beyond me? There was supposed to be a storyline woven throughout the album, much like the 3 Chains video. But once most of them were cut to put "I Wanna Melt With U" on there, it became rather banal. I even cut out the "what is sacrifice?" part too on my playlist.

It's my favorite song off the Symbol album, although it's sort of a guilty pleasure.

The video had a slightly dark vibe (for Prince) as well. Yes, it was added right at the end, which is why most of the Kirstie Alley segues were cut. Yes, "Eye Wanna Melt With U" was the last song added. It was originally recorded to be the B-Side to "7", and was originally titled "7 Hours (Eye Wanna Melt With U)". But once it was finished, Prince rightly considered it too good to throw away on a B-Side and added it to the album. At first the plan was to include the track on the LP and cassette versions, but leave it off the CD (due to time constraints). But then he decided to put it on the CD and remove almost all of the album story segues instead, just leaving the 2 (shortened) telephone conversation ones with Kirsty Alley (and a now uncredited one between "Damn U" and "Arrogance"). Not wishing to be on a downer but I realy, REALLY don't like it for 3 reasons: 1) The lyrics are shite 2) it's clearly Prince moving away from being Prince and instead thinking "Whats cool at the moment?" 3) It was a very poor imitation of the trend at the time...as were the horrendous "Hardcore" MNIP remixes which, to anybody who knows music, were anything but hardcore

I've always thought this was a standout track & loved it from 1st listen. Really like the beginning.. I think that's what hooked me & then the rest of the song was great.

The video's a bit mad with P on his roller skates again and almost naked women with masks on I seem to recall. Decent little throwaway song

You musta been a virgin, what am I guilty of? Ugh! Yeah do that baby Ugh! Yeah do that baby Ugh! Yeah do that baby Ugh! Just like a dog! And let's not forget the "La La La He He Hee" sample right after that. I realize a lot of songs from that early 90's era were really about Mayte, in my opinion. It hit me the other day that a lot of them could be/were about her. "The Morning Papers" is a good example, talking about a girl that is new to love, and naive in every day. "I Wanna Melt With U" is the same, esp the virgin line. It's no secret that Prince was fawning over her and spending a lot of time w/ her starting during this time period. I mean, he married the girl for heaven's sake.

love the extra heavy feel of it due to the great guitar parts. I love the live version as well, mixed in with the ending of 3 Chains Of Gold. I was at the video shoot for this, which was filmed in the Erotic City room at Glam Slam Minneapolis. Strippers that were hired from a local spot, dogs, ...quite amusing it was! I remember Tony M saying "We are going to hell for this one!" TRUE BLUE
