Let's say Prince went on tour this Summer... And he came to the Org for our opinions(it could happen) about the type of show we wanted to see...
Think outside the box... What's your setlist, the type of venue, any guest band members, the opening band or artist, the type of performance, the encore...anything: "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

The Scandalous Sex Suite with me as Kim Bassinger... Anna Stesia Then an encore!!! Raw and unedited versions of Pheromone, Shockadelica, Shhh, SexyMF, Dirty Mind, Head, Electric Intercourse, etc, etc... better have smellin salts on hand . Um, didn't Prince book a theater in Minneapolis for a show during the 2002 celebration and then cancelled the show when the tickets didn't sell? I think Minn. has seen too much of Prince and people there don't get very excited anymore when he plays. I think if he does go on tour this summer, he should go to cities that did NOT get a ONA show. He should also make it a high priority to play aftershows in cities where he never plays aftershows. Stop playing aftershows in the same cities year after year.

The way I see it, Prince doesn't sell in MPLS for three reasons: he is considered a hometown boy, his concerts are too spur-of-the-moment, and folks here are too cheap.

I agree, that was a great lineup for that performance.

I like the jazz sound, but I'd still like to hear some old favorites like The Cross(not the Christ), Forever in my life, I could never take..., Live4Love, Shhh, the Ride, the One, Holy River. Think outside the box... What's your setlist, the type of venue, any guest band members, the opening band or artist, the type of performance, the encore...anything: If he would be honest and open he would just come to the org, announce himself as Prince and ask what he wants to know. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

They have turned out to be so one-sided in favor of Prince, that criticism is not posted. Moreover, they were never asked like:"What and how would you like Prince to release, (provided ...)?" Never with the intention of really getting to know what the "fans" want...There is too much dividing... You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

I'd love to see him do a two-night stand. The first night would be a full-out concert with lighting, staging, costume changes, etc. This would be the concert that would include more of the "hits" for the casual fan, lots of upbeat dance tunes, very high energy.
The second night would be at a smaller venue, and would be for hard-core fans only. Bare stage, no pyrotechnics and all, just a focus on the music. Set list to include lots of unreleased stuff we hard-core fans know and love, things he's never (or very seldom) played live, plus a set of brand new music we've never heard. The topper: If you find a golden ticket under your seat you get to request a song of your choice. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

LOL You know...do have the option of not posting or even reading this thread, but I respect your opinion just the same.
lets not... I thought it was a little fantasy based, too--but I know the npgmc come here quite often AND, more importantly, I really wanted some different ideas. I like to think of the impossible...what if...and Prince has actually come up with things after I've thought of them. The whole Batman album I honestly thought of in 1987 after reading Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Two years later, out comes "Batman" the soundtrack(not my fave to be honest, but oh well). I thought the Joffrey Ballet Billboards show was brilliant too. I guess I was hoping for Prince to think outside the box again--concert wise. Granted TRC is great, and the ONA tour was also great-- but something about it felt forced at the same time. For instance...what if TTD opened for Prince instead of his normal Paisley protege groups. On the flip side...as someone mentioned above...what if the Time opened for him? What about Rosie? George Clinton? What about doing a live show from the center of an arena again(see lovesexy tour) so everyone can hear and see him better? What about a free concert where everyone brought canned foods for the poor? What about another benefit concert/tour? What about doing shows at Paisley or in downtown Mpls? Done that before? OK, what about performing a live show to HBO? What about releasing vault CD's via his website? Past live concerts? Playing on some more talk shows like Leno or Conan? Starting a new internet radio station??? I like when he takes chances with the general public and not just the die-hards. That's all. I'll shut up now.
