Prince @ Fat Black Pussycat RIGHT NOW

For any of you in NYC, I have a friend who says that Prince is at the Fat Black Pussycat RIGHT NOW. He says it's open mike night and Prince has a guitar, but hasn't performed yet.

I don't know anything about this place, but if you're in the big city you might want to try to get there.

If you see him, send me all the details.

Actually he was performing downstairs at the Underground, which is the sister club to the Fat Black Pussycat club, It's located downstairs, according to the site. He performed between 1:10 am and 1:45am. The show is over and some of us just watched a live show online, and Prince was on guitar. Shelby, Liz and another singer were performing. It was a great show!!!!!

The show was on this link below;they're off stage now. I believe they were on for at least 45 minutes.

I guess he's just hanging out at the Fat Black Pussycat then. My friend said he did have his guitar with him still. Unfortunately, my friend is offline so I haven't heard if Prince is still there.

What songs did he play at the Underground?

Check this thread starting from reply #133, and you'll read what some orgers saw watching the show live online:

He played at the Underground downstairs in the FBP. Some of us watched the performance live online from the comfort of our home. Good footage, excellent upfront, very close view. Didn't have to worry about people blocking your view or elbowing you, if you were right there at the club. lol

Thanks for the heads up on what post to start on. I wish I would have seen that link earlier. I've been online all night.

Maybe it will surface online somewhere... (wishful thinking, I know) wink

No problem.

Go www.Drfunkenberry.com as he posted a report of the show on his site as well, with an image of the performance at the Time 100 gala that Prince performed at earlier.

Sorry you missed it, but it was an excellent, closeup on the computer screen. The cameras were on Prince a lot as well. Kind of felt like you were right there in the club. His background singers have some powerful voices. Shelby and Liz's voices, lawd have mercy....they nearly blew off my earphones with that real soul. Lawd, but I enjoyed it. The singer of the band they played with, was so elated that Prince was there that he couldn't stop giving appreciation to Prince. lol

Poor planning, poor directions, no idea what what time the show started, no putting me on the guest list lead 2 not much fun 4 yours Truly. Snuck in 4 only 2 songs. The last 2 songs "Baby Love" and "Angel" both without singing by Prince. He did have the ausherwald (spelling) as I told a few other (that is my favorite guitar) so that was the only Xciting part. Rode in the elevator with and talked 2: Martha Stewart, Donatella Versace, Rachel Ray and her husband, Sarah Palin, Harvey Wienstein among others.
I can't really say 2 much else on that event.

The aftershow/Jam session at Village Underground wasn't much better. Prince and the Band joined the house band halfway through their set [as I walked in they were playing Nasty Girl] and stayed about 20 minutes, Prince a little less. He played guitar and did not sing and kept his back 2 the audience the entire time. Shelby, Liv and Elisa did all the singing. The borrowed gear sounded weak at best and it sounded like an unrehearsed mess. They plodded thru: intro jam, I Feel 4 U, Controversy, Never Be Another Fool (Prince left after the beginning of this one)and Shelby J Rap(Feeling good, Tell Me Do U Want This). He hung around shook hands a little, smiled and listened 2 the houseband Run though The Ballad of Dorothy Parker, No Diggity and Chocolate.

One of the least inspired Prince gigs ive ever seen. He looked worn, tired and lost. I think he has a new guitarist though.
Cover was only $10 so.....if U no where he is at 2morrow.....give me a holler.

also…..
Prince’s NEW GUITARIST is
Quinton Dean from the vacation island of Turks and Cacaos

Besides Him It was the same band from Paris

Liv, Elisa and Shelby J. on Vocals
Cora – Drums
Joshua – Bass
Mr. Hayes -Keys
Cassie – Keys and Vocals
Prince – Whatever
Quinton Dean – Guitar

also 4got 2 mention the house band also played “Starfish & Coffee”
Prince really Njoyed when they jammed on “No Diggity” and was left during that number jamming all the way out the door.

Dang I missed it! And the Fat Black is a great place to hang (as is Village Underground). I wonder if he'll play anywhere else this week.

Prince needs more positivity in his music; I suggest he listen to more reggae, and especially Coco Tea

You should have stayed online, it was streaming live.

If you go to this thread, and start from reply #133, you'll see responses from those who were watching the show live around 1:00 am this morning.

The event is covered pretty thoroughly here: http://prince.org/msg/7/335011
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
