Cracked.com - The Most Hilariously Failed Attempts at Sexy Album Covers http://www.cracked.com/ar...overs.html
(Also discussed here: http://music-mix.ew.com/2...the-heat/) And our man makes the list with Lovesexy... Agree or Disagree?

Is that all society does today? Eat, sleep, sex? Cant anyone think deeper these days....? Of course not, we're being dumbed down every day. It clearly wasn't done to be sexy (even though some will find it sexy), it's a symbolic gesture....but, that's not interesting is it. *sigh* This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

Pretty funny write up on it though. The only man that looks less manly w/o wearing ladies clothes... Classic!

Anyone who actually listened to the album would know the cover is obviously not meant to be sexy. It's meant to represent a spiritual "rebirth". Too bad Prince didn't use "Rebirth of the Flesh" as the opening track on this album. It would have given the cover more obvious context.

that's pretty clear from looking at it. Well, it should be pretty clear from looking at it, but apparently it's not clear to some people. I think the album title "LoveSEXY""didn't help matters. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

LoveSexy is a good album cover IMO. The joke on the Cracked page is basically "Hey Prince, you're girly!" which is far too obvious to be considered clever. [Edited 5/13/10 18:43pm] ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

I get that it's a humor website and actually got a kick out of the write-up. But since they've included this under the heading of "failed attempts at sexy album covers" they're off the mark since it implies that they think Prince was TRYING to be sexy here, which he wasn't. If they had perhaps included "Dirty Mind" on the list instead and mocked Prince's g-string and raincoat, I'd find it perfectly fitting for the heading. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

at some of those covers.
And... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

And... Damn... I didn't even notice that when I read it! I find it slightly ironic that Travolta actually looks more girly than Prince.

The problem with the Lovesexy cover is the setting with the flowers and the flower boner. It could've been much better without those. [Edited 5/14/10 9:59am]

[Edited 5/14/10 9:59am] The pistil on the flower and it's strategic placement always cracked me up. He nasty. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

[Edited 5/13/10 18:43pm] I love the album cover even though I make fun of it and have parodied it. And I doubt he was aiming for sexy. It was almost sacrilegiously serious. It's like he's praying on the cover in a weird way. The inside sleeve of 1999---now that shit was full of fail.

It clearly wasn't done to be sexy (even though some will find it sexy), it's a symbolic gesture....but, that's not interesting is it. *sigh* I totally agree with you. Although I have found Cracked magazine to be hilarious in many cases since I was a kid, the magazine is making fun of the obvious on this one--the fact that P is naked--and ignoring the context (which they frequently used to do--haven't read it since my son was in middle school LOL). Prince is displaying his "nakedness" to the world for a reason; he is stating that he is laying his psyche bare and his spiritual transformation for all to see, symbolized in his nakedness on the album cover. It is so obvious that it is a duhhh! moment for those who don't get it! Fortunately, most of us do!

Not sure that these peole have taken their time to listen to the album. If you're in a record store and you see that cover, without having a clue about the music, how in the world can you know what the message is supposed to be? You just see Princey lying naked on a flower.

I love the Lovesexy cover. I think it's beautiful. "I pride myself on working with great musicians, and I consider her to be as such. She's an amazing talent, the real deal." Prince on Beyoncé ♥

that's pretty clear from looking at it. Prince naked on a giant flower with his legs crossed and the head of a penis part of a huge flower pistil Yeah ok.... Look that cover may not have meant to give off sexual vibes but there was nothing obvious about it The cover was provacative and proved disasterous and like the song he wrote for the Vikings this past year yet another in a long line of just embarassing moments for this particular Prince fan [Edited 5/15/10 19:19pm] Dance... Let me see you dance

And... I really think you're missing the point there squirrelgrease, John Travolta's album was deeply spiritual. Everyone looks at the cover and sees a naked white man who shared Art Garfunkel's hairstylist. You have to look DEEPER Facebook, I haz it - https://www.facebook.com/Nikster1969
