Electric Intercourse and Morris Day

First of all... I love this song! It should have somehow, at some point, been released. If Prince had sung this song, it would have been a hit!

But...

I think that Prince should have given this song to Morris Day.

Imagine Morris in Purple Rain, singing this song tipsy... with his style... trying to win Appolonia back... after Prince just sang The Beautiful Ones.

Too sexy! Too funny! smile

It completely fits!!

Remember... Morris was drunk at the table when Prince came on to perform. As a follow up, imagine Morris singing to Appolonia...

I feel some kind of love for you,
I don't know your name
This is the kinda love that takes two
I want you and I'm not ashamed

CLASSIC Morris!

The song was written in 82 or 83, so it was around.

I just think that Morris and his "schtick" would have made this song a LEGEND... even if sung in a humorous manner, with that Morris Day style. wink
The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

This song was originally suppose to be on Purple Rain, but Prince felt that it didnt fit the movie/album and replace it with the beautiful ones..But what if he gave it to Morris? Uh I dont know about that. I love the way Prince performed it..It has to be my favorite outtake.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I also feel it's too serious a song for The Time: 4 me i'd be like Morris singing Purple Rain or Sometimes It Snows In April.

Funny idea, though wink

Oh come on... you guys can't tell me that "I feel some kind of love for you, I don't know your name... bla bla bla... I want you and I'm not ashamed" isn't something you can imagine a drunk Morris Day singing to Appollonia.

Even the part... "I don't know you, I don't even care".

There's NO WAY this is "too serious" of a song for Morris to sing... especially with lines like that.

It would have been PERFECT for the misogynistic role that Morris played in Purple Rain.

And now that I think about it, those lines aren't charateristic for Prince at that time. The Beautiful Ones was ULTRA serious. Purple Rain was ULTRA serious.

Electric Intercourse is a FANTASTIC song... but the lyrics aren't exactly words that would endear a woman to the singer! Think about it!

THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MORRIS DAY SONG... with a comedic spin... and would have been a perfect attempt at a "drunke" (which he was) comeback after Prince sang The Beautiful Ones.

Appollonia could have heard it... Morris would have put that "cocky brass" spin of his on it... but Appollonia would have laughed and left with Prince... to go get busy in the basement!

I'M A GENIOUS! lol

I`m with OMantuaPharoah on this one, this would sit nicely as a Time balled like "Gigalos get lonely too" lol

Call me crazy but I agree with that. while I love the song, it would've been a great ballad 4 the ice cream castles album. Lyrically it would fit morris day perfectly. And it ain't that serious of a song.

Genesia, they're called "typos". I've read many of you're posts, and you haven't exactly been exempt from typos either. Let's not get petty up in here. I apologize for not using "Prince.org Spell Check". Happy now?

But I digress...

Great song... but more of a Morris Day tune "verbally" in my opinion. Prince just happens to sing it in a serious manner... but the lyrics don't live up to that serious nature.

I think Morris could have nailed this song. It would have been nice for this one to get a release as it's only flaw is being sort of a Beta version of beautiful ones.

I don't know if having the extra musical number with morris right after the Beautiful ones would have worked in the feature length movie, but would have made for one of the funniest/most awesome deleted scene's ever on a dvd.

I'd have to somewhat agree with that. Song could go both ways....serious and not so. P's take is definitely a heartfelt/lustful rendition.

I also like Donald Trump - Black Version. "'Cause when I dig somebody, they stay dug!".

Electric Intercourse has those same kind of rediculous lyrics. Come on... "Shock you with my lips". I mean seriously?? lol

But I agree... Morris could have pulled this tune off! If you're not going to release it anyway, let Morris take a crack! Indeed, he would have nailed it!
