I want a DVD reissue of Lovesexy Live!!!

I have both the boot CD and the boot DVD, both being from the japanese laserdisc i guess (the CD has a better sound quality actually) and the sound quality is terrible in comparison to the Beautiful Strange, Rave 2000 or Aladdin live shows!

It's a shame that such an amazing concert isn't available in perfect sound quality mad sad

The video wasn't released by WB, obviously Prince owns the rights to this, so WHEN WILL WE HAVE A DVD rerelease???!!!

Since Lovesexy is one of my favorite two Prince albums of all time, I couldn't agree with you more.

I'd take it a step further and say I think it's a shame that one of the most important musicians of all time doesn't have a full blown, great quality two and a half hour live DVD of just Prince material, hits, album tracks, bonus cuts etc...

Almost every other artist under the sun has multuple live DVDs out there. It's time for our main man to get one out there too!

Nope.
a BD is merely a DVD with even more DRM on it.
(DVD had at least three layers...)
Was the material ever shot in HD in the first place?

You would think that; but I bought Highlander on Blu-Ray and watched it recently... damn eek It wasn't shot in HD but it looked pretty fine to me, you could even spot a cigarette on the ground!!!

+ they can put a freaking awesome audio track on a Blu-Ray! And that's what's it all about for a Concert Film.

Prince; I really hope you release 'something' on Blu-Ray or even DVD! We have been patience for quite some time now... do what's best... make some money and show the non-fans what you sound like LIVE!

Could you imagine some faces in your local media store, when they see something like LOVESEXY on a big ass tv screen! eek lol

Release it!

My Dortmund Lovesexy DVD is fantastic quality, both picture and audio. This was the one that was professionally shot 4 release. Sounds like you're referring 2 the same one, but mine sounds and looks great!

There isn't enough demand for Prince music, dvd's or anything else to justify a release. We've already got everything worth having and the rest of the world isn't interested and won't buy it. Theoretically, Prince should be capable of whipping up demand, but it doesn't seem to be in him to make it happen.

I disagree. The demand is there.Prince still has a sizable fanbase around the world who would rush out to buy these things.

Well, it was certainly not shot in HD.
And as it was shot on video (not film) it could only be blown up in size, but not really quality. (although they do a good job on some things)

Lets face it, we're not going to get a DVD release, never mind a Blu Ray!

Highlander was shot on 35mm film which has higher resolution than 1920x1080 HD (on a blu-ray). As a matter of fact most distributed movies since the 1920's were shot on 35mm film and are all sharper than HD if you find an original print. That's why you can get Gone With The Wind or the Casablanca on blu-ray. They are better than blu-ray on the original film print.

The Prince Lovesexy concert was shot on PAL video... so it was never at HD quality. The Rave concert or Alladin could get HD transfers... SOTT already has an HD transfer from the 35mm print. It showed on the Encore HD channel years ago.

ntsc DVD is 720 x 480 pixels big

HD blu-ray is 1920 x 1080 pixels big.

Ok, actually it's not the sound quality as in bootlegs that i meant, it's really -i think- a matter of mastering. The sound is clean on my copy, too, but with a very poor mastering (high sounds and low sounds aren't balenced correctly in the mix IMO)

PAL is 720x576.
If the material was shot in PAL, what would a DRM-ridden BD yield us?
Better give us a PAL DVD, unencrypted, zone 0 and macrovision off.

Why is the regular DVD not available in the biggest market of them all.... the U.S. ? lol

because they don't see a demand worthy of publishing it?

I'm actually surprised myself that someone didn't TIVO that shit and post a file.... at the time I did not subscribe to HD Encore or I would have recorded it just like I have Star Wars in HD right now.

Just get a b00tleg DVD with the LD transfer.
Yes, I can do that. I own the LD, so I have paid a `license` for that content.

Look, there's no point in taking a video-recorded show and attempt to upgrade it to BD. You'll only expose flaws.

Nonsense. Plenty of BDs are region free.

DVDs have MAXIMUM 2 layers. DVD-5 vs DVD-9 (single-sided, of course). DVD-10, DVD-14 and DVD-18 are simply dual-sided DVDs.
