God these lists piss me off. Of course, Parade is nowhere to be found even though it is better than 124 albums on the list.
And how can Lauren Hill be in the 70's? What a joke. | |

I just got done reading this article. As I was going through the list, I was quite surprised that there were no Prince albums but they redeemed themselves by number 2. I can't really complain about the other albums that made the list, since I have about 90% of them.
Prince's divinely, defiantly eclectic double-album came out at a time when SPIN was all agog. "I guess you know what the problem with Prince is: he's too good," goes the start of Bart Bull's review. "He's so good he can do anything he wants...and sometimes the dumb stuff he does works out to be the best stuff anybody's ever done. Ever." That even-the-dumb-stuff-works spirit imbued an album as personally pointed and stylistically varied as any ever made, and it's aged well enough that, in a 2005 tribute, SPIN's Michaelangelo Matos called it a "one-stop superstore for the past two decades of pop." If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

not bad. I kind of thought they might make a left field choice like Lovesexy, but Sign is definitely the better album. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..." | |

Incredible version of U Got The Look!
This man was awesome beyond words. I love me some U2, but the choice of that album is kinda off. I would have picked "The Joshua Tree" as #2 Sign as #1 I think little by little "Sign" will inch to the top spot of 80's albums as it is looked back in perspective with a more detached and fresh approach. | |

Nearly. Purple Rain should have been in there somewhere. I think it influenced a lot more of what came after than SOTT did. I think that's only because it had to with the fact that it was the " Best of the last 25 years" issue, which would put the cut off date at 1985 | |

I don't really see the point of lists like this. It's like any of us made a list of their 125 fav. albums, never got why record critics were considered more "reliable" than anyone who likes music. And not to put any of the albums down, I don't see the point to repeat it every single year that according to "them", most of the best music came out before Kurt Cobain passed away. We get it, you don't like anything current and love to go back to your memories from 15-30 years ago, but why should anyone pay attention in the Internet era? | |
