"Pop" as in an album full of songs, where almost each song could be a stand-alone "hit." So, "Lovesexy" and "Parade," for example, would not qualify as "pop" albums; even though they had hits,

I'd say his best pop album is "The Gold Experience;" every song sounds like a hit.

While, I'd say that "Rave" would be his worst pop album, becuase almost every song was calculated to be a hit, and it all seemed too manufactured, too many guest stars, for its own good.

sro100 is right on the money with Rave being the worst, yes, very contrived, not much soul/vibe going on across that record (there are a few exceptions, but only maybe 4 tracks).

Yeah i think by the time Come was released prince just kinda lost the spark to fully produce that "pop" album to return him to his purple sucess days.
But every so often you get albums like The Gold Exp. and 3121 that satisfys the craving for a good album.

However this purple and gold is just causing a not so favorable effect
