Weird topic so bear with me for a moment.

This site is very much one of appreciation and respect but also one of second guessing. What would have happened if Prince would have toured here or there? What if he released this single over that one? We talk about these things as if if Prince would have only done this, some parallel universe would have been created (in most cases a universe where Prince is an even bigger icon than he eventually became).

I lie awake many a nights thinking how I got here from there, wondering why I turned left when I should have turned right. I think many of us have these thoughts. But with Prince, it seems like, with very few exceptions ("In This Bed Eye Scream" for example), he has no regrets. As boneheaded as this move or that move might have been to some of us, he seems to sail on some sort of even keel as if what happened yesterday was some sort of outfit he threw on and it's not important compared to what he's going to be wearing tomorrow.

A lot of speculation here and in the end who knows what Prince has going on in his head. It would make him just a little more human though if every once in a while he went "You know, making Under the Cherry Moon in black in white probably wasn't a good idea." Or, "In hindsight, that whole unpronounceable symbol thing was kinda goofy." Or, "Maybe I could have been a little nicer to (fill in band member name here)"

Just wondering. It would be nice to know that this man many of us have built up has his moments of vulnerability...

He said he can't direct a film he doesn't write in apology for Under the Cherry Moon, and disproved that with Graffiti Bridge.

He said Parade was rushed, and Kiss was the only song he was proud of.

He pulled the Black Album.

In his 2004 Hall of Fame speech he said something about having too much freedom, perhaps in reference to being a little overly dirty early on.

Prince is not exuded from the human experience just because he's a musician and eccentric man. I do believe he's apologized from this and that when it comes to his career. Not many artist can be free to make music when they want and how they want and the recording companies would put there 75 cents into it. Come to think of it, I believe he second guessed himself when he had the LotusFlow3r.com site go up. Now as we all know, it's gone and it's on to the next project. That has to be the biggest second guess he's had, that we can asses.
