But either way, i love him...and if he has fears, he's only human. We're all afraid of something, and I'm willing to accept him, fears and all.

I was just thinking about some of the themes of the Kid's life in "Purple Rain" and it occurred to me that Prince's life show signs that he fears most being left alone or found unacceptable by those he loves. Like Apples, Wendy and Lisa having their own outlet beyond him for music... his parents.

I expect someone to argue that he has a "I'm gonna do my thing and I don't care what you think" attitude as evidence that he does not fear it. BUT doing this often comes out of people with this fear wanting to control the situation. You give them something besides you to reject, it becomes self fulfilling. They turn it into a THEM problem not a ME problem. THey get comfortable with reclusiveness as it's what they expect... to be alone.


Think also of why he says he worked so hard at music as a child, Father's love. Striving to be accepted, respected.

Think of the women, the wives. Often he gets control by either pushing them away before they can push him, or he behaves in ways that they HAVE to leave, so He can tell himself, they must not have ever loved me anyway.

I could go on, these are just a few thoughts. what do you think?

I'm not all clued up on his youth/family background ie. quality of relationship with parents and siblings, but from what I know, I would suppose that Prince has always had to do or be something to feel truely loved and accepted.

Generally, a difficult youth leading into almost instantaneous fame would first, leave some scars and secondly, certainly take away opportunities to learn general hard life lessons, which for the common man on the street, are simplest of nature, yet valuable life tools.

So with few everyday tools he then had to handle the loss of his child.He was probably ready at that stage to really engage in unconditional love and then he couldn't give it.The opporutnity was taken away from him by "this thing called life."


Yes he collaborates with many and his ladies seem to come from work cooperation but is this real intimacy? He's the leader which always puts him in the control seat. That's all he knows and in his position of fame, the only way it can be. We normally fear what we don't know and he's never not been in control. Being intimate with someone and not in control must be unconsciously scary for him.

This is why I think his religion is good for him. How can you truely love yourself when you were never really shown how in your childhood? And in adulthood how do you do it, when you know so many people love you for being or doing something they like. Where does your own real self worth as a human being come from? Fame, talent, money & good fortune are external things.

By submitting to his religion he is accepting being loved unconditionally and he is able to cultivate a truely intimate relationship with God.I don't think that's easy for him and that's why it's a step in the right direction for him to fulfil his own full self realisation.
