There's still a slight Prince link...

Didn't Jonathan Melvoin play keyboards for the Smashing Pumpkins? Jonathan being the brother of Wendy & Susannah, of course...

Billy said in an interview that he admires Prince because he can really see all his inspirations when watching him perform live.

There was also a thread on here that mentioned in some SP footage they can be seen standing outside of what appears to be once of Prince's tour busses or something like that, theres a large Prince symbol on the door.

Wow I didn't know there was a new Pumpkins album! Being a soul / hiphop fan I rarely listen to "rock" stuff (exceptions being Funkadelic, Jimi, etc) but I totally dig the Pumpkins... Saw them live a few times in Dublin.

The only bad thing about the Pumpkins is that (a) Billy Corgan is far too talented for the band and (b) they attract miserable teenage audiences in black t-shirts with smelly greasy hair.

Mellon Collie and Siamese Dream are untouchable smile

Try out Jamiroquai's "A Funk Odyssey" -- if you like funk with a little bit of 70's flair to it. Jamiroquai has become my backup when I wear myself out on Prince. His voice is cool, his band is tight, and it's a fun listen. "Travelling Without Moving" is also jammin'. smile

I finally heard the new Zwan song on the radio yesterday and liked it. smile

I'm jealous of you guys who got to see SP in concert. Years ago, right after I discovered how much I liked SP (*OF COURSE*) I found out they were scheduled to do a concert in my town. I was so excited to get to see them. THEN THEY CANCELLED THE CONCERT AT THE LAST MINUTE, NEVER RESCHEDULED IT, THEN BROKE UP.

Jamiroquai broke through with their debut in Europe almost 10 years ago and pushed 'repeat' eversince...it's getting so boring.

Right. "Emergency On Planet Earth" was excellent and I had high hopes for them. But every album after that has been progressively worse. Now, to be honest, I see them as horrible pop-funk-lite sell-outs that bore me to tears.

Wow,I can't believe you guys don't like 'A Funk Odyssey'.That's funky as hell! I've never heard 'Emergency On Planet Earth' (I became a fan in 1999 when I first heard the 'Synchronized' album),but I am STILL going crazy over 'A Funk Odyssey'.

Co-co sign, DavidEye. I bought Travelling Without Moving when it came out (96?), and I got A Funk Odyssey for Christmas and re-discovered Jamiroquai. A *great* alternative when your ears need a change from P! I have Travelling, Synkronized, and A Funk Odyssey -- A Funk Odyssey is by far my fav. I haven't heard any others. Gotta get to Half Price Books or somewhere similar and check those out...

It's not the Smashing Pumpkins there a two members of the smashing punpkins and a member of perfect cirlce and someone else. The album is called Zwan.

Yeah, Jonathan Melvoin played drums for prince and tamborine also. Maybe a bit of keyboards to. He died of a heroin overdoes a few years back. Tragic
