Halls of Desire

Has anyone ever heard this track with only Prince's vocal on it? I absolutely love it, to me it's a classic Prince pop tune!

I've been revisiting all his old collaborations and side projects recently, I can't believe he gave this one away.

Never heard a copy with just his voice, but i would like to get a whole cd worth of his versions of songs he has given away.

I bought a bootleg during the early 90's called 'Yellow' that had a few Prince versions of tracks he'd given to other artist. Two of them meant for Joe Cocker actually surfaced on 'Old Friends 4 Sale' (5 Women and a reversion of 'Old Friends 4 Sale'). This is the rest of them....

From Martika's Kitchen (Martika)
Don't Say U Love Me - Almost identical, but for his vocal and this version is much better for it!

Martika's Kitchen - Again, pretty much like the released version, but for Prince's vocal. It obviously makes more sense for Martika to have sung this, but if he'd have tweaked the title, this could have been a classic Prince pop tune.

Love Thy Will Be Done - To me this one of Prince's best written songs, but on this version, probably because it's rough, the vocal isn't that good. I actually prefer the Martika version. (I know, don't hate me!)

Spirit - This song isn't great, but makes a whole lot more sense when Prince sings it. The Martika version, well the less said about that the better...

From Here It Is (Jevetta Steele)
Open Book - Prince's version is much better than the recorded version, that's far too cheesy! I'm very sure that you can still hear Prince doing backing vocals on the released version, but he isn't credited. The Prince version is much less produced, and better for it IMHO.

From Precious (Lois Lane)
Sex - This version has a more obvious drum track on it and scratching throughout - so a bit more for the masses I guess. I quite like this 'remix', but the Lois Lane version is just stupid. The lyrics really only make sense when Prince sings them.

Uh-Huh! (Ray Charles - apparently)
I can see why people think that Prince wrote this for Ray Charles, it does sound like one of his songs. Either way, it's on this boot as a song Prince got $7 million from Pepsi for.

Get Blue (Louie Louie)
I've never heard the released version, but this sounds like another track Prince should have kept to himself. In a similar vein to Sugar Free...

Excellent pop tune from Prince!

I wish Prince would release a disc or 2 featuring his own versions of tracks he wrote or gave to other artists.
