Have you seen how hard Pete Townsend or Paul Stanley or anything has to pound a guitar to actually break it? It hitting the edge of the stage wouldn't break it. Prince has thrown his guitar on the ground anyway, and he still has it in one piece. That's only because it doesn't have far to fall. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Or it was caught by the guitar tech, one or the other. [Edited 4/17/10 15:09pm] Well said....

I loved it so much because it was Prince throwing down the gauntlet and letting everyone know that he STILL can be touched - by anyone.

takumi catches it in the RNRHOF performance. he didn't always catch the guitar tho, sometimes they fell and got broke, so they were glued back together and repainted. takumi showed me one of the guitars that had a bit glued back on, i think it might have been the one eyed bass, it was so many years ago. chips and bits come off the guitars all the time. the symbol shaped guitars were the worst as there were too many bits to break
