Who's playing what .... ONA LIVE I just wanted to know if it was Renato or Prince playing the piano solo on 'Extraordinairy'.
Before the sax solo P introduces Candy but doesn't introduce anyone before the piano solo but thanks Renato afterwards "Renato on keyboards". Is that Prince or Renato ? Also, who is playing the piano solo on 'The ballad of Dorothy Parker'? AWSOME STUFF !

Extraordinary - it was Renato when I saw it performed - I think twice. [This message was edited Tue Jan 21 14:41:49 PST 2003 by langebleu] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Definitely Renato on Extraordinary, he did it at the concerts I went to. Don't know about DP. But it sounds like Renato too me... might be Prince imitating his style though... "How embarrasing to be human!"

Renato is an extraordinary keyboard player. Prince is good, but he doesn't have nearly the same dexterity as Renato. When Renato plays, you can "hear" that the keyboard is his instrument and that he's been playing it all his life.
Prince could probably be as good as Renato if the keyboard was the only instrument he spent his time on. The amazing thing about Prince is that he can actually play keyboards extremely good and still be one of the best anyone has ever heard on guitar. Any musician will tell you that that in itself is an amazing feat because it's one thing to be able to play a few chords on the keyboard and work out a melody in the studio. But it's a completely different thing to perform live in concert. It's just another one of those things that sets Prince apart from the pack. I think the Ballad of Dorothy piano solo is Prince. He didn't mention Renato or anyone else. WHo was at the Houe of Blues show and can tell us ?

At the end of the song he says "Renato Neto on the keyboards." So I'm gonna go on a limb and say it was Renado.

The solo on 'Extraordinary' is Renato.
The piano solo on 'Dorothy' is Renato. Prince plays rhodes on this one. I saw them both performed. In my mind, Renato Neto has just surpassed Fink as Prince's best keyboardist...with your Nord Lead sound effects...GO ON BROTHA!!! -SWANGlovesPrince'skeyboardplayingtoo [This message was edited Wed Jan 22 16:26:48 PST 2003 by SWANG]
