Prince's involvement on Modernaire

I just managed to find out an Housequake.com list by Boris and i read
- Modernaire (production only).

What is that supposed to mean (arrangements, playing an instrument, or just supervising the song's recording without any musical involvement)?

Thanks.

Well according to http://www.discogs.com/De...se/1445683
Prince played the Electric Guitar, Synthesizer and did the Backing Vocals(they are pretty easy to make out:)). I'm not quite sure if he helped write it, but it really does have that classic Prince/Minneapolis sound to it.

Cool song, loved it the first time I heard it in Purple Rain.

It WAS released in 2005 on Dez' Retrospective compilation and several remixes were released as well in 2008.

If your question is why it wasn't released back in 84-85, it's simply because Dez wasn't able to get a contract with a record company.
