Would you tell that to your child if they came home with a school project that made a c+? "Honey. It's shit!!" No i don;t think so. Prince put his heart in this movie. If you didn't like it, just say that. Just because you didn't Get it or didn't understand it doesn't make it sh_t.
On a side note, I enjoyed it. Music was great and gave the prince camp and others to brush up on their acting skillz.
Peace.

I've watched the Graffiti Bridge trailer a million times because I don't have access to the movie yet wink

To those who HAVE seen it, as a fan of Prince, how was it? I know it wasn't well received by critics.

I was so mad at Prince stealing the price of admission from me that I didn't buy the album 'til 15 years later.

How's that for spite? lol

Not bad. cool Guess I won't be looking for it anytime soon.
I wonder if he did a movie with the soundtrack as TRC if it would be any better.
By the way, I am one of "those" who read physical newspapers. wink

I know I will get flamed for this.

But in the story there is a good msg about love vs evil.

And had it been promoted better, it probably would have a better rep.

Yes, he should have kept that Lambert chick as Director.

But when I was on the set, it really did seem like it was going to be a hit. There was a co director or director of photography who had an english accent. So should we blame the brits on this one? I am just kidding. But seriously there was a british fella doing a lot of directing with Prince.

I agree with your opinion about the good message. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be after all the negative things written about the movie. Perhaps I set the bar so low in my mind, it had nowhere to go but up. shrug

The movie...

The feeling of the movie is an "ANGEL" watching over "The GIFT" given to a man;
who does not follow the industry (WORLD) system...
who is inspired by GOD to follow what GOD's WILL (BRIDGE) is...
until he is given the very moment through Trials and Tribulations...
communicates with the divine angel, for whome initiates him to the higher ground...
The Word (Industry) played by a corporation 7 Corners (Corporate Music Industry)...
finally meets it match; whereas, GOD's divine (AGENT / Angel)...
breaks through and sacrifices her physical realm forever to bring everyone
together in a sacrifice of LOVE...
The Music being inspired throughout the movie is the (LADDER OF LIGHTS) and the
artistic WILL (Bridge) filled with poetic gestures of a MUSE to... cross over...
In the end, LOVE WINS...and that is an interpretation thru maybe an another Angel's eyes..."Do you beleve in angels OR are they only in your mind... maybe IT WILL come out in the wash... in time, to time infinite..."HE CAUSES TO BECOME!"

And that is GRAFFITI BRIDGE...
Take care...me Q7

Mary Lambert was supposed to be directing Under The Cherry Moon, not Graffiti Bridge.

also, better promotion would do nothing to improve this movie's rep. how do you polish a turd?

Lol. Your feelings have just been hurt. Prince is very, very used to criticism from people who know less than him and are far less talented than him (or at least not using their talents). I think he can take it by now, but he is still human.

He has become very, very successful. Great news for a 26 year-old. Makes a film, it becomes successful world-wide as well as the album, announcing to the world: Prince is here. Now that is hotshot. First, we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin (Leonard Cohen).

Lol.

At an early stage, the movie was gonna be directed by Albert Magnoli, who directed 'Purple Rain'.At the beginning of 1989,Prince hired him as his manager and the two began planning the film. They had some 'artistic disagreements',Prince fired him and decided to direct the film himself shrug Imagine how much better the film might have been if Magnoli had been allowed to direct it.
