Horny Pony I love this song. As a B-Side to the regular "Gett Off" and "Cream" singles, it's one of the early provocations toward my Prince fandom. Sadly I don't have it now. I'm afraid of ordering any singles that might have it, because I know I'll probably get jipped into re-buying the still pretty common maxi-singles that I already have.
Anyone know a reliable and reasonable way to track down this track? I suppose I can always move past my cynisism and trust an Amazon seller.

It's not my all-time favourite song but I like it better than many of the tracks on Diamonds and Pearls.

I never liked this song. The whole "horny pony" concept was already used in 1988 on 'Lovesexy' and 'The Black Album'.Can't see why he felt the need to revive this lame concept in 1991.

I woulda replaced Live 4 Love for Horny Pony, having three fun songs separated by a social commentary and an intense ballad woulda been nice. Don't really like Live 4 Love either.

The D&P album came out when my brother, my best friend and I were in college.
I remember the three of us flipping out over how fun this song was and wondering how the heck it didn't make the album while songs like Jughead, Live For Love and Push did. I think I read on a thread here a while back that most people find that this song is either too silly or downright awful. Other than the cheesy keyboard sound that should have been replaced with real horns, I think it's a ton of fun and really enjoy it.

It actually was replaced by Gett Off. I love it, Prince not taking himself too seriously.

I agree the need to fill the disc led to over long albums. However there is part of me that wishes in 1986 1987 CD was the major format. Prince at this time could have released Parade with another 30 minutes of music and Sign could have been 2 70 minute disc's, so basically Crystal Ball as intended. I think he definately had enough great material to fill out both those albums.

I guess it's been a couple of years since I've bought from them, but they were top notch back then. That's too bad that they aren't answering inquiries. I guess I never had a question for them. The prices are certainly cheap enough. The Amazon sellers on the other hand have been hit and miss for me. Probably 25% of the time I get the wrong item. I've even received empty jewel cases. Money is always credited back, but it's still a runaround sometimes. If someone were to go that route, make sure to check feedback ratings just like you would with eBay sellers. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yes. http://www.princevault.co...Horny_Pony About the song
Horny Pony was released as the b-side of the single Gett Off, the first single to be credited to Prince & The New Power Generation. It was also included as the b-side of the following single, Cream, and was included, with a computerized spoken intro, as part of NPG Music Club Edition 7 in August, 2001. Basic tracks were recorded on 11 September, 1990 at Paisley Park Studios (during the same session as Fancy Dancer, Jughead, The Flow and a reworked version of Something Funky (This House Comes)) within hours of returning to the USA from the Nude Tour in Japan. The track was placed on the Diamonds And Pearls album during various configurations, and was also included on an acetate of a Gett Off EP, which was aborted soon after compilation. Horny Pony was replaced on the Diamonds And Pearls album by Gett Off in June, 1991, but the track is still mentioned in the rap portion of Push (along with other songs on the album), and is printed on the corresponding tracklist on the packaging's back cover (quoted from Push). After being removed from the album, Horny Pony was then included on the Gett Off single. 11 September, 1990 - Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA - Initial tracking of Gett Off Summer, 2001 (assumed) - Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (assumed) - Computerized intro addition Musicians Prince - all vocals and instruments, except where noted Levi Seacer Jr. - rhythm guitar and backing vox (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Tommy Barbarella - purpleaxxe sampler, other various keys and sex symbol (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Sonny T. - bass and backing vox (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Rosie Gaines - co-lead backing vox, purpleaxxe sampler and organ (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Michael B. - drums (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Tony M. - lead raps and backing vox (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Kirk Johnson - backing vox and percussion (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Damon Dickson - backing vox and percussion (credited as part of The New Power Generation - involvement uncertain) Versions Horny Pony - 4:18 - Gett Off single - Cream single - Studio Horny Pony - 4:26 - NPG Music Club Edition 7 MP3 download - Computerized spoken intro before complete track as above Quotations and trivia The song is not related in any way to Horny Toad, other than that they are both b-sides. Horny Pony is printed on the tracklist on the Diamonds And Pearls album's back cover, overlaid with "Gett Off", which replaced it. Computerized spoken intro before complete track as above seems to be the only difference. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The fart? Yes. It's the only known instance of Prince's butt trumpet caught on tape. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
