Minneapolis (the song)

Okay, on the song Minneapolis, from the 1-800-new-funk album, there is a line that goes:

And if U can't play 7, 7 on the drums, U better not show your face

Is he referring to the song 7 by Madhouse or 7 from the prince album? Or something completely different?

Just wondering.

Just a guess.. I'm assuming it's 777-9311 released by The Time.

That would make sense, except, if you're not Prince, Jellybean or John Blackwell then you wouldn't be showing your face because that drumbeat is impossible unless you are one of those 3.

Funny thing is I asked Jelllybean about that beat once and confirmed to me that it's a drum sample, not real drumming.. It was the Linn machine.

Yeah, maybe the album version isn't real drumming, but Jellybean can nail it live every time!

^^ The drum beat to "777-9311" is possible to play live by others. Watch this:

"7" from the prince album could be the reference since it was more current when "Minneapolis" came out.

But who knows.

probably a nonsensical time signature he made up for the lyric.
"does my cock look fat in these jeans?"

That dude should get his facts right. But it's not an easy beat, that's true.
