Has anyone ever met Prince and had a favorable story to tell?

Hey peeps...

I have this friend who wonders if Prince is a down-to-earth good person who's friendly to people he meets. Now, I've never met Prince, but for I and my friend's benefit...

Has anyone ever met Prince...and had a favorable account to tell of him as a down-to-earth, good person? hmm

I'm gonna hear that annoyingly screechy "whhhhheeeeeoooo" in Hell? I'd better straighten my act up a bit then.

My friend and I are MJ fans, we're used to our hero being sweet and kind to his fans (anyone of you start hatin' on MJ, sod off stfu). Now I don't want to compare MJ to Prince or anything like that.no no no! But so I have something to tell my friend...

Did you meet MJ?

And, how can you say that you don't want to compare MJ and Prince when you did exactly that in the sentence before that statement?! lol nuts

there were some nice reports from the ONA tour, where people had a chance
to interact with him during soundchecks.

but then there was also the sand dollar story, so it's pretty much a two

He was holding up a line at the local Super-Walmart in Valrico Florida a few years ago.

He was giving the cashier a very hard time about the price of ground beef (apparently, it's cheaper up in Minneapolis rolleyes ).

The cashier insisted that he sign his name on the credit receipt. Imagine how that went.

Thats not true. He was arguing about the ingredients and quality, NOT the price. Get your story straight son.

I met Prince back when he was doing the 3121 Las Vegas shows. We went to the 2nd show and he was actually meeting people after the after-show. I'm a rather chatty cat and my wife is the quiet type or not as vocal as I am. Prince put his hand out for me to shake it and I looked him in the eye(s) and I forgot my name, I forgot my wife's name and I was stuck. LoL
Funny thing is, she had to talk with him. After I was able to gather myself I said a few words and thank him for the music.
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

LMAO at the sand dollar getting brought up, AGAIN.

Anyway....yes, I met him in 2007 in London, at the indigo. Have relayed the story here plenty of times so search for it if you're THAT interested. Had the briefest of interaction but he was very pleasant, flashed me that legendary smile and he had definitely had what could be described as an aura. Hopefully I'll get to meet him again one day!

Hey you, chill!

No i sadly never had the honour of meeting MJ.I know several fans who did. Very lucky indeed. They got hugs, kisses, and some got to meet his children. *sigh* sad I never met Prince, so I didn't know what to think of how Prince would act around his fans. I've read in other forums that he doesn't care or is very dismissive of his fans. This is a small world, and one day, perhaps my friend and I would meet Prince, I didn't want him to be utterly disappointed if Prince was aloof with him. But somewhere in my heart of cynical hearts, I figured Prince was really a down to earth, nice man. I just wanted a little back-up to help substantiate my opinion.

And no I do NOT want to compare MJ with Prince, musically or otherwise. I've seen too many of these comparisons happen on other threads and I didn't want that to happen here. I merely stated that as an MJ fan, I'm used to seeing MJ be kind, sweet and generous to his fans. That's it. I was in no way comparing him to Prince. Comparing the two is like trying to compare fire and water...both essential for life, both very different.

At Militant, thank you for telling me your story. I will look it up on here, but thank you for telling me again. smile Thanks to all who came on to answer. Peace and love to you all....<3

I think I passed by him at Yonge and King and did a double take, but just ignored him and let him be. I don't know if it was him or not, but he had heeled boots and looked like a short man anyway, so I'm pretty sure it was him. I don't think we knew yet he was living in Toronto

Not sure if you would call this "meeting" Prince, but during the Lovesexy tour I went to see it in Chicago. It was the 3rd night he played there. A couple friends and I went to the Rosemont Horizon around 3pm and were hanging out in the parking lot and there was a woman and her 2 kids there also. It was lightly raining and all of the sudden all these black limos and a van pulled into the parking lot. They all pulled down this long ramp to enter underneath the arena. The last one backed up all the way up the ramp, where we were standing. A bodyguard got out of the front (who I would later realize was Gilbert Davison). He walked to the back of the limo and opened the door and Prince got out and shook a couple hands and touched my arm and said hello. I managed to take one picture, before Gilbert asked me not to take any more pictures. Needless to say I was besides myself!

My friend's dad (says he, I have no way of knowing for sure) met, or rather encountered, Prince, haha. He was working at a movie theatre and Prince showed up with his crew.

He was "The Artist" at that time, and was apparently trying to get around paying for tickets. He wasn't talking at all, and one of his bodyguard/major domo/whatever was doing the communicating. He kept saying that "He" wanted to see the movie, whichever one it was.

My friend's dad kept telling him that "He" had enough money to pay for a ticket, and kept asking who the bodyguard was talking about. The bodyguard kept saying "he", and he kept asking, until the bodyguard finally got fed up and yelled, "PRINCE MAN!"

Always makes me laugh!
