Same person - but different names, but if I really had to pick one.. I'd go with Prince of course.. but i love the symbol as a logo! so its just perfect with PRINCE using his symbol as a logo..

As far as names go you can't get much better than a symbol that people can't pronounce. That symbol describes who he is. If you say 'Prince' you could be referring to anyone.
As far as the music goes, it doesn’t suffer under either name. The guy who made Emancipation and the guy that made The Rainbow children is blatantly the same. In quality and sound.

I loved that symbol for his name. I thought it was different, unique, & just way out there...which is the way I prefer Prince to be.
I was disappointed that he caved in & started calling himself Prince again (I'm not totally buying into his story of why he switched back). It was a real pain in the ass for his fans too (I'm sure many of you were tired from all the jokes) but I was willing to go along for the ride & defend him. It's too bad Prince didn't feel that way but hey...it's his life & his name & he can do whatever he wants I guess.

I prefer the symbol, again everyone knew who that was.. I loved the uniqueness it embraced. A little quirky at first but it grew on me. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

Prince rocks, because he's Prince.
0)+> was a nineties wannabe. If only he would change the name of the backing band. New Power Generation is SO 1990.

It wasn't disrespectful people ...It was so that he could release Music being that he was still in contract with warners. Everything Prince does or has Done makes Perfect Sense if you can read Him. I Can and I Love what I See and Hear. So,I love him as Prince and all the Music he creates as Symbol and as Prince both Old and New. Tap into where he is Coming From and you will Understand Him and his Motives for doing Business. He is Very SMART!

I remember when I would see that symbol in the Newspaper or Prince coming in concert and how exciting it was.
But Prince is his name and you can pronounce it. and the symbol really took away from Prince because the people that weren't fans thought that an unpronouncible symbol was idiotic.

Well, o(+> made "The Truth" which redeems him from all the
other follies. Which aren't that many actually. Ok, "NPS" was crude and "Rave" wasn't really phenomenal either. And let's not do the "Kamasutra" shall we But "The Gold Experience" "Exodus" "Chaos & Disorder", "The Undertaker", "Madhouse 24", and the assorted 0(+> tracks on "Crystal Ball" are all Prince-worthy. Even "Emancipation" would be a fantastic album if stripped down to a single disc [hey, the other trax are cool extras anyway]. Having said that, it does seem that the o(+> personallity can be broken down into two different incarnations. The first being the loud, brutal, fierce, swearing son of a b*tch from the Glam Slam performances. The second being the toned down, sleek, spiritual non curse softy with weak trendy beats. It was about time he re-claimed Prince cause he would've blown up the o(+> if he'd kept it for another year or 2. However, it seems that since 2000 he's gotten back to the true Prince vibe, but with some of the better [loud] early o(+> qualities. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I like that he's Prince but has a unique symbol that ID's him instantly, the jewelry & guitars are SWEET

people thought he had gone mad with the whole symbol thing but those who are not fans are just ignorant.i think the only reason he changed his name was so he could get around his warner contract and release more material. The moment he was emancipated he rereleased rave un2 the joy fantastic with his own name, which proves my theory.his contract said he could not release stuff under another name but it didnt say under a symbol, instead of a name. And TRC proves he is better off as prince.

Prince
Anyone who thinks otherwise should be banned from Prince.org and should not be allowed to join the NPGMC. In fact, they should not be allowed out of their homes! In fact, all Prince fans proper should 'club' together and buy the rights to all Prince recordings (incl live sets and rehearsals) up until and including 1988 and release them thru' our OWN club. NPGMC could learn a thing or 2 from 'labels' like SABOTAGE and THUNDERBALL/MOONRAKER.
