It doesn't say PTV Vol 2. on the DVD anywhere.

I have the PTV vol 1 and 2 and if I recall it doesn't say it either.

Good enough. They did have both those Easter Eggs in question. I liked the "Heaven" comparison video. But seeing Prince in running shorts and thigh high leg warmers was hysterical, and made my night. My roommate was like "WHAT TEH FUCK?!" falloff

So I have this cutie pie friend in Richmond. He is a Prince fan like the rest of us, and I know him from back in the alt.music.prince days. We talked about DVDs recently, and I mentioned I wish I had a copy of the Warehouse rehearsal from June 7, 1984. He kindly offered to send me a copy. He padded the package a bit, and I got the whole thing today. I got DVDs for the following:

*The Warehouse Rehearsal
*Ahoy Rotterdam
*Revelations (DVD Rom)
*Promotional videos for 1979-1984 (although that one is missing the band version of "I Wanna Be Your Lover")
*Promotional Videos from 1985-1989 (covering ATWIAD through Batman - including the Batmix and Vicki Vale mix of "Batdance", and an unreleased "I Wish U Heaven")
*Miles From The Park
*Prince Live 1987 (includes 4 Those of U On Valium, and MTV Awards, I've never seen a copy this clear of Valium)
*Slave/NPG (various mid 90's appearances like Soul Train, AMA, MTV, VH1, Letterman, BET Awards, The White Room etc etc etc etc - some shit I've never seen before!)

Thanks to my friend, who isn't an Orger (smart man - HA).

He also sent cat treats for my cat, bunny ears (pics to come on THAT one), muthafukkin' grape lip balm (!), and some purple incense, which thankfully does NOT smell like Prince's taint.

You have the coolest friend!

That is an understatement! lol
I have some of this stuff on crappy VHS tapes that I recorded myself over the years. TV appearences and such. It's been my dream to have decent quality versions of this on DVD. And besides my VCR is on the outs. Oh well someday I guess.

It's nice just to have clear copies for sure. My Warehouse tape was really wonky, and any of the other stuff I never had (like the MTV, VH1, World Music, etc). Some of it I'd never really seen. I've seen the picture of him in the blue and yellow from the World Music Awards, and even remember reading about him having to lip sync, but I never actually saw the performance.

It's been ages since I've seen Miles From The Park. I just gave up on watching any of those crappy VHS I still have. I taped a lot of that stuff from rdhull back in the day (circa 2001). Thank God I can finally unload those VHS tapes.

Yea I don't think I've seen any of the rehearsal stuff you listed. And I had a fairly complete video compilation but the tape broke on me. sad Most of the other stuff is TV appearances over the years I recorded. Some of it I've watched so many times the tape is stretched out.I thought about getting one of those VCR/DVD conversion units to transfer stuff to DVD but haven't yet. I dunno.
Congrats to you E! You have a goldmine there. cool

Well, I can't understand most of the responses on this thread. Or the need for it.

You people are talking about getting bootlegs as if it were a bleesing the gods are to drop only on a few chosen ones.

All that stuff (and much, MUCH more) has been out there for ages and still is, in much better quality than back in the day.

They're up there for grabs. You only have to do some little work (and THAT is usually the 'problem').

New boots (both video and especially audio) are coming out nearly every week!

Even newer and better sources for stuff that was already available in good quality keep surfacing.

Bootlegs are not a privilege to some (well, only certain stuff). So, as the old Jamaican anthem would say: 'You can get it if you really want'.

No one is disputing that this stuff is out there. However, if you read the whole thread, you'll see where a lot of us had crappier VHS quality stuff. The DVDs I received are just wonderful quality, for it being a bootleg.

Bootlegs are inevitable. Prince isn't the first, or the last, bootlegged artist. He's probably one of the more famous ones, along with his Minnesota neighbor Robert Allan Zimmerman.

For me, bootlegs of any artist I enjoy are a blessing. I have rarely paid for bootlegs, because I don't want to be part of that market that takes money out of the pockets of my artists. But I am perfectly willing to trade for something in order to get better copies of something.

Bootlegs aren't for chosen ones, you are correct in that. As easy as it is to get things online, it's just as hard to get them online as well. Believe me, I've done my homework in trying to find things online. I have found some things, some things I've always wanted to have but never rounded up. This is just one of those times where the bootleg gods smiled on me. haha

These are bootlegs I've either 1) never had, or 2) had in horrible quality. I'm grateful for my friend hooking me up way above and beyond the realms of our initial conversation about the Warehouse video. He didn't have to do all this, but he did. Eight DVDs, and some chapstick & cat treats, later - I'm happy for it.

^^I don't see how you didn't manage to 'round some things up'.

Getting boots today is as easy as picking daisies in the countryside in full spring.

Anyway, what surprised me was the fact that you started a thread for it since hooking up mates should be, in my book, an everyday fact. I myself have sent literally loads and loads of stuff to friends in exchange for nothing, just for the pleasure of sharing.

On the other hand, it shows you are a grateful person, which not everybody is. Some people just take for granted that you should be hooking them up for life for the sake of it. And that's not what it's about.

I agree. There's always an excitement when you get a new bootleg, especially a video. We're visual people by default. Sitting in the floor last night and labeling the DVDs (he didn't label them), was a fun time while watching the videos.

I wish the Ahoy Rotterdam video was longer. Does anyone know if this is from a televised concert (abbreviated like Cobo Hall was) or something?

Also, does anyone have good DVD cover scans for anything I listed? I'd like to print them and make cases for them.

Nope, only 2 or 3 songs were aired on Dutch TV.
This is the uncut footage from the camera that kept running.

Oh good to know! It does go on for a bit, into the medley and "A Love Bizarre". I was always fond of that tour, although I never saw it live.

nod My crush on Wendy resurfaced a few nights ago while watching Purple Rain on VH-1. If I ever get W&L on my show, I will flirt with them both. Doesn't matter to me that they're gay...I still have crushes on them! oral

No, he has shoes on. It's a black and white video. It's pretty much the song list from that birthday gig that evening. It's even more historic for a few reasons:

1) the only known recording of "Our Destiny", and "Roadhouse Garden"
2) the actual recording session for "All Day, All Night".

17 Days, Our Destiny, All Day All Night, Free, Noon Rendezvous, Erotic City, When Doves Cry, Irresistible Bitch, Possessed are most of the songs.

I'm in the process of getting the Warehouse rehersal DVD myself, would it be worth my time ripping the audio, how is the quality on that Ernest?

True but i get the feeling Prince would still want to be paid twice. For the legit purchase and the earlier 'theft'. Just the way he seems to be. shrug

The audio is just a microphone in the room, possibly one on the camera itself. It's literally a warehouse, like a cement and metal room, so there's a lot of reverberation and echo. When it's just folks talking, it's decent, but otherwise, it tends to have a lot of reverberation. However, the sound isn't horrible either. The audio is circulating out there, though. It's very tough to hear songs like "Roadhouse Garden" and "Our Destiny", lyrically. The others are easier because we know the words already.

It's like if you played a boom box in a bathroom or cellar to play music, and set up another boom box to record it from across the room.

I loved that she gave Prince some attitude in the movie, and who couldn't love that snarl on her face in the "Kiss" video??? I loved Susannah too. It wasn't even about being star struck, it was the personality. She was just as sassy as I was as a gay boy. I think she was just as cocky as Prince was, but in a non-offending way, whereas Prince just turned into an asshole at some points. I think I had a fag hag crush on her. It was never sexual (I was still lusting over Scott Madsen in Soloflex ads). I think I just wanted to be her friend.

And you know....now that I've been able to talk to Wendy and Susannah, and say hi to them, and have them respond in such a warm and friendly and generous way - it's a full circle moment for me. I think I like knowing them more now, than if I knew them 25 years ago. I'm grateful for that interaction and cyber-hospitality.

I loved it more when Wendy cut off her hair in 1985. SO damn sexy of a look on her!

Ooo !!!

Nice set of DVDs/Music and I love me some Wendy, Susannah and Wendy. If I can say anything about my fandom for Prince & The Related Artist or before I was actually a fan of any of them I had the HUGEST crush on W&L&S. & as far as the DVDs go again, sounds like a good collection of the CLASSIC Prince we all know and love.
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I am still looking for covers. One Orger was gracious and sent me covers for 4 Those of U On Valium, two different covers for Miles From The Park, and PTV Vol 2.

I could use PTV 1, The Warehouse rehearsal (is there a cover for this at all?), and NPG/SLAVE dvd.

Thanks to that orger who helped out thus far.

It's a DVD of 1994/95/96 appearances, through the end of the WB years. There are also NPG performances from The White Room, and that horrid interview w/ Veronica Webb.

I can feel your joy. I remember when I was finally able to replace all my VHS boots and official releases with high quality DVD. I'm usually on the fence about bootlegging. I know it's a crime so I appease myself by saying that I only purchase unofficial stuff, and when it becomes official I purchase it again.

Also, as a Kool-aid drinker, I'm not one to say what Prince should do, but there's tons of cash and new fans to be made by officially releasing all of these DVD boots. Also, it would keep me from having to splice, cut, and paste various shows into one show that I love. But, that’s another topic for another time. Enjoy yo’ new stuff!!!

Very nice, one time on HQ some young lady had never heard "Small Club" and she lived overseas & wanted it badly. I sent her a PM for her address & offered her a copy for nothing not even postage & she was elated! I love sharing with other fans & really love turning people on who are not hardcore fans. There's a guy at my job that I relieve in the afternoon & I drive his car too him so that he can go straight home & he has nothing but P boots in all 6 cd slots in the car. I have rubbed off on him he wants more & more, but I give it too him in small doses as I dont want too oversaturate his ears. He is stuck on the 8-29-07 aftershow as this to me gives "Small Club" a run for it's money!
