Spiritual connection no, but the fact that I love his music perhaps means I share some music genes with him. If I had been born in Pakistan, not Sweden, I would've liked somebody else's music, so nothing is completely predetermined, but considering the whole nature versus nuture debate, there might be some genes in common.

I grew up in a town called Nelson. Prince's last name is Nelson.
My imaginary friend when I was growing up was called... you guessed it! Rodger And my first pet was a lovely black labrador called Prince. I had a toy robot with a see through plastic head and he had a Purple Brain You can't make this stuff up!* Of course there's a spiritual connection!!!!! Prince loves me. Erik *3 out of 4 facts made up. Always read the label. . No connection at all.
Around the time of 'The Gold Experience' there was some strong resonation but not now. 'Lovesexy'I could get with, 'The Ladder' etc. But now he is too conservative and dogmatic for my personal taste. Not that there is anything inherently 'wrong' with being conservative, it just doesn't correspond to my views. I prefer lyrics and creativity when Artists are searching, struggling and evolving spiritually, rather than when they feel they have found all the answers. For JW's there is an absolute 'Truth' and they believe they've found it. They even call their religion the truth. Fine for them, but I don't think there is one absolute 'Truth' for all. Still love the music though.

TheVoid said: It's obvious, and I would be remiss to ignore the fact that some of you have a very close spiritual connection to Prince.
Many of you are able to interpret his lyrics way beyond intellectual contemplation to the point where you are able to understand his motivations behind those lyrics. For example, long before an album is released many of you already know the track names and post such threads here on the org to bestow upon us your knowledge. I understand that seldom do the track lists ever prove to be what is released--actually, they never even come close to what is released, but you know how Prince is these days--always shifting gears and surprises us--even those of us who have a spiritual connection to Prince. Do you have a spiritual connection to Prince? Have you ever wondered that when you're crying, that somewhere in a plush high-rise luxury suite, Prince is also crying? Or in your most joyous moment, Prince is somewhere beaming with the same energy? From some of your posts, it's quite apparent to me that you share some knowledge of Prince's inner workings that other lesser human beings don't. . [Edited 4/4/10 16:54pm] yes, i am connected to prince. i think. perhaps, deeply. the other day as I was driving home from work i saw a purple car which reminded me that prince likes purple and since i was on highway 7 at the time, i could only conclude that the universe was sending me yet another sign that prince might be around, somewhere.

Nice post. Andy F I saw a sign the other day that read: Science flies rockets to the moon Religion flies planes into buildings. Thought it was quite poignant. Poignant pal, means touching but hurting, you used the wrong word imho. I do like Science, but it is not always right--even now. Is it Science and scientific research that pushes all the legal drugs in the multi-billion dollar medicine industry? Was it science which discovered the phalidomide pill in the sixties? Largactil? The SSRI's (which apparently can induce mania)? Did you know that probably every, every mental health drug on the market was discovered by proxy? Do you know what by proxy means? It means that the initial research for the drug and its supposed benefits were nothing to do with mental health. What does this say about Science, research and the drug industry? The Father of Science was not, imho Galileo or one of the Greeks. Even though I am an agnostic, the Father of Science was doubting Thomas (if, of course, he existed). --------

a puddle on my sidewalk formed the top half of the symbol this morning. then, a burst of rain swelled it into what might have been prince's face.
as you can see, it's pretty obvious that prince was reaching out to me and saying: "i am who i am. part symbol, part man. part rainstorm, part sunny day. I am me, first and foremost, and, you better wear your galoshes today."

That's cute XxAxX! thank you dearie! unlike SOME people, you get where i am coming from. don't say anything to him, but I am pretty sure TheVoid mistook prince's message to me for some kind of philosophy. but here's the thing, prince is rarely ever serious, or heavy, or philosophical or anything like that. he is actually kind of a fun-loving fellow, and rather fashion-conscious from what i can tell. for example, just this morning, as i was choosing my outfit for the day, i realized that it had been quite some time since i'd worn my purple corduroy trousers. and, at that precise moment, i could hear an auto accelerating down the block. i ran to the window, but was too late to discern whether or not said auto had been a little red corvette. just the same though, i could tell that prince really wanted me to wear the purple trousers and so here i am. rocking the purple pants

now, i am sorry to accuse you of something this serious, and if i am wrong, please forgive me, but i am almost beginning to maybe think that you are not 100% supportive of my posts. and, it hurts. it does. right here.... i am taking time during my personal lunch break to share with my fellow ORGers about how many ways prince is spiritually connected to me, and all you can do is compare my posts to some weirdo philosopher who probably never even met prince, and who was likely more into country music than funk. i would like to believe that this thread is an open, caring, sharing kind of place, but sometimes, when i see that 'lock' post right under my own, i feel, well i feel a teensy bit... rejected. and, prince does too. i can tell, because as i was opening my bag of chips for lunch, the song 'anastesia' began playing, and the first chip i pulled from the bag was roughly in the shape of an A~! and, this occurred at the very moment i was reading your lock post!!! so prince obviously knows allll about this thread. so please. think. think before you post that hurtful lock thingy, before you place an exclamation point after it, and stop to reflect a moment on how prince would feel if he saw you do that. thank you. that is all.
