I know she interviewed him but did she come on to him in some way?

It just seems like a really bitter song. Maybe I'm interpreting it incorrectly but he really doesn't seem to like the "mystery woman" in the song.

I imagine in early late 96/early 97 whilst Prince was around the USA promoting Emancipation he was at a few parties and record company things, and the Spice Girls were the hot property at this time, and Prince probably kept seeing them at these parties, and Scary Spice was probably a kinda fan (i.e. she bought Purple Rain or Diamonds & Pearls), but she never came over to him and chat, she just felt too embarrassed.
