prince the prophet?

Listening to 'Controversy' the other day in my car, I started to reflect on one of the lines of the song: 'some people want to die, so they can be free'. This is usually interpreted to be a criticism of war but maybe Prince was foretelling his whole name change some 12 years later, where he effectively 'killed off' Prince. Was he already sensing problems with WB and hatching a plan to escape a restrictive contract at the time? Doesn't an early version of his symbol make its first appearance on the cover of 1999? Just a thought...

Yes. If there's one thing Prince has it's foresight.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Also, when Prince wrote those lyrics, he was most probably unaware just how prophetic they were. Since becoming a J.W. he knows that the Bible tells us that the "wages sin pays is death". J.W's have a ressurection hope that all humans that have ever died will be ressurected and given the chance to live 4eva in a paradise on Planet Earth. Human death=debt paid=everlasting life=freedom=happiness.
Its just a thoughtxxxxx

Based on the lyrics he composes and the faith he professes, it would b interesting 2 discuss this with him 2 c what he believes. Prophet? I doubt he thinks that, but I'd bet he believes his music is inspired by a higher power!

Don't ya wanna go get saved?
got Prince?

Dont read to deeply into that. I think he was talking about war or maybe even suicide.

He probably didnt think about changing his name until 1991 or 1992.

He's not a prophet. He's a talented musician - good at writing funky songs and love songs.
