Who has not listened to Purple Rain in YEARS? I have not listened to Purple Rain in some.... 15 years. yet I am still a Prince fan. I wait for the new stuff. That is all I dig. The farthest I go back now is 3121, and that is beginnning to get old, but it's still pretty kinda sorta modern.
I hope he jams with todays music on the next album. I would love to see what he could do if he really tried to compete with todays artist. He does watch Fuse/MTV/VH1? Right? Well, you can't watch any of his videos on any of those sites. Anyway..... Who never listens to Purple Rain any more? We are all so full of

This album is like a good movie that doesen't need that many listens or watchings in order to appreciate it. I've been a bit tired of it for years but that doesen't mean I don't like it.
Purple Rain seems to be the only album the music reporters and critics are familiar with when you read some of their stories and reviews: "The Purple Rain star... Pint-sized pop star who had a hit in the 80's with Purple Rain.... Prince who starred in Purple Rain..." Hello?

I probably want watch or listen to Purple Rain for a long time. Im kinda sick of it. I listen to his new albums and unreleased material more than anything he released in the 80s and 90s.

Try decades. The last time I listened to it as a whole was the night before "A.T.W.I.A.D" came out. Haven't pulled it out the crates since.

I regularly listen to some of the extended\alternate versions of some of the songs like Let's Go Crazy, Computer Blue, and I Would Die For You because I recently discovered them so they are fresh to me.When Doves Cry is just classic. I will always listen to that song. As far as the album, I just can't listen to it anymore. I just burned it out over the years. CALL ME A DREAMER 2!

It was the first Prince album I bought 10 years ago, and the only one I bothered to get until 3121, when my fanhood really took off. I played it to death for a while, put it away, and never took it out again. I never bothered copying it to my computer or mp3 player, so it doesn't come up on shuffle, either.

Why not immerse yourself in the new stuff? I've absolutely plundered Lotusflow3r myself, and got heaps out of it. So much to love! ![]() Take it - like Clarence said:

I listened to Purple Rain alot in the 1984-1987 period and I stopped listening to it. Occassionally I listen to a single track every now and then.
I find I go back to the album alot more over the last 2-3 years.

I listened to PR in the 80s. Then in 2007 I suddenly pulled it out again. For a few listens and dances. But I don't listen to it anymore. I love it but yeah, it's etched in memory. I'm so loving LF it's my new PR. "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

I listen to it all the time
I never listen 2 it the same though Sometimes I'll combine the Bsides sometimes I'll combine it with movie outtakes/protege like Possessed, God the Love theme, Fathers song, Sex Shooter, Modernaire, Jungle Love/the Bird sometimes I'll combine it with various songs from Ice Cream Castles, Apollonia 6, Sugar Walls, Sheila E. I tend to mix most of the albums up, never playing them the same way It always keeps them even more interesting. I can only really do that with the 1976-1989 music because that where most of the B sides outtakes and proteges come from. 1990's music and 2000 music I'll combine era music like 1Night Alone C-Note NEWS Musicology
