American Music Awards (1/28/85) - Purple Rain

The Grammy Awards (2/26/85) - Baby I'm A Star

MTV Awards (9/11/87) - Sign 'O' The Times, Play In The Sunshine

Tavis Smiley Show (2/12/04) - Reflection(f/ Wendy Melvoin)

The Today Show (The Art of Musicology) (4/20/04) - Musicology, Dear Mr.Man, Cream, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Sweet Thing, Proud Mary, Sometimes It Snows In April

There were so many over the years but I really enjoy these a lot.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Exactly. I just typed up the track listing as on my DVD collection. I've got a 6 DVD set of Prince TV appearances from 1980-2006.

"YEE-HAW!! Come on, you Cowboys...". Yeah, that was great.

What about his '86 appearance on Sheila E's Romance 1600 video? That was seriously cool.

And his '97 Essence performance of The Christ? Pure Dynamite.

...and his '94 VH-1 performance of Interactive/Endorphine Machine.

...and Septimo.

Someone was talking about Proud Mary. He played that in the '07 Superbowl Performance. And he used to play that alot in the '95 Shows.

Did anyone mention the 1981 SNL performance where he does Uptown? There are many great Prince television performances, but Saturday Night Live 1981 ('80?') Stand out the most. It used to be on youtube. I doubt it still is.

He did Party Up. Did he also do Uptown? Great performance, I agree. I'd go for Fury, though and the '87 MTV Awards. The assless pants Gett Off performance deserves a mention, though...

What is pro-shot?
It could have been the footage that was used at the concert itself. But it was steady camera, but not too many angles (2/3?).

Hey!... that is a really funny movie made by the same guy who went on to direct The Freshman and then Honeymoon in Vegas... and of course Striptease which pushed more obscure Prince music onto the masses...

You're damn right that's the best televised performance of Prince, that's two cassettes worth of magnificent stage material. Live '85 from Purple Rain tour comes as a close second. Those without video cassette players will never see these.

However, if televised mean performances shown actually on television, I'd say visits on Jay Leno Tonight Show during Musicology. The band he had then was tight.
