I could paint to that for days and days. I also wouldn't mind a full instrumental but then with lots of percussion and funky bass lines. "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

Sets band up in studio A no rehearsal they do one of those instrumental jams like they do at the start of aftershows,, Marquee and Small Club then release what's been recorded after 80 minutes.
Spends some time mixing so it's not flat off the desk sound No overdubs Voila Oooo and have a multi camera set up and that would be the Blu-Ray or DVD Who am I kidding I'm gonna get it and enjoy whatever he puts out. Call me Fam but I still don't get that people don't recognise how good Lotusflower is anyhow

Erik,
Great thread! I really like your idea, but I'd like to add mayrain's idea to it and make it 5 disks. Since you're idea is a wedding concept, the 5th disk can be the "honeymoon" and have all of mayrain's love songs (or love-making songs, if you will)! Too sexy....!

Peter Gabriel's latest album, Scratch My Back, is a cool concept (good idea...with questionable results though). He trades one of his songs with another artist. Then remakes one of their songs only using orchestral instruments. That kinda goes in line with the OP's "Something Borrowed" idea, as well as the guys at Peach & Black Podcast talking about P doing a live show and being backed by an orchestra.
I know, I know...it'll never happen.

what i've been hoping for since about 2001 is a 2 disc album.
sign of the times ended up being 2 discs but it wasn't recorded as such, with the idea of being a double disc album. of all the things he's released so far he's never actually recorded a double disc. lotusflower, i guess comes close, being 2 prince cds in one package but they're two very distinct, individual albums. what i've been hoping for is a two disc set with about 20 songs or so, covering a lot of ground. no tight concept, no tight theme. it would be great if the songs could have lyrics that were closer to his 80s and 90s output than to his recent stuff. his writing has become so much less eventfull and so much more middle of the road. his lyrics could use a boost. beyond that. an anthology series would be welcomed by lots of people, i'm sure. something like crystal ball, but in several issues, with a certain period for each release. like 4 releases, roughly one every 6 months or so, each of them covering a 4/5 year period of his outtakes. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

NDRU said: Prince composes music to the lyrics of Tom Waits, and uses Tom's style of instrumentation--an out of tune piano, crappy drums, at least one home made instrument, jangly old guitar, marimba, a quavering violin, accordion, megaphone...
title Tom Waits for No Man? The Symbol aWaits? Gutter Scream? 9th & Hennepin I LOVE it! Always wondered what it would be like if Prince became more of an Avant-garde musician. Excellent idea!

Good Topic. I prefer Prince's RnB stuff, so I'd say songs that make you sad. I'd like a whole album that just brings you to tears. With some classic guitar playing that sounds like the music is crying. It has to be deep with his amazing lyrical songwriting. I also like the concept of him doing a cover album so I'd say do a double set covering 12 tracks he admires. April usually brings showers
