What are your opinions of Prince's funkiest cuts LIVE?


I always thought Strange Relationship was a "good" tune. When I first heard it on the SOTT album, I remember thinking... "that's kind of a cool tune", but I never considered it one of my faves. It always paled in comparison to the other fantastic tracks on that album.

But as the years have gone by, and as I've heard more and more LIVE versions and rehearsals of this song, I'm convinced that LIVE, this is one of Prince's funkiest cuts... if not the FUNKIEST, when heard live.

In fact, IMHO... the studio recording doesn't do it justice!!

The interplay... the bass... the drums... the hornz... it all adds up to a fantastic song played live. I'm not even going to get into the lyrics.

One that springs to mind is his live cover of the Stones' Miss You (w/Ronnie Wood & Sting on guitars) - Wembley Arena '86

"Girls and Boys" from the Sign O The Times tour was a great arrangement.

Strange relationship on 4 those of u n valium is one of my fave Prince performances, I can listen to it a dozen times b4 getting bored... really really funky, all said and that I really dig the One nite alone live rendition of it too!
