Prince played a brief part on tour in Los Angeles, March 28th, 1983. It's an excellent melodic mid-tempo rock number focusing on piano in the versus with a guitar giving the chorus added punch, similar to "Free." The musical resemblance to "Free" may be one of the reasons it was left off 1999. The lyrics dwell on imminent nuclear war destruction and looking for "a better place to die." Yeah, everything was coming 2gether and it was a great prequel of sort 2 Purple Rain. The music, the tour, and even the videos were great. Prince and The Revolution, The Time, and Vanity 6 were about 2 take the world by storm. There r some really cool outtakes and alternates that came from these sessions. | |

A promotional music video directed by Bruce Gowers, who previously directed the "1999" video as well as videos from Queen, Rod Stewart and John Mellencamp, was produced for the song, which features band mates Lisa Coleman and Jill Jones whipping Prince in a simulated S&M session.
