It started 13 years ago with the Crystal Ball fiasco and it seems to end here, with that "i'm closing my website without a word after one year of virtually nothing" and the credit card fiasco of yesterday.

I've always defended Prince on an artistic and human level, but the business relationship he has with his core fanbase is getting worse & worse. I, like many, really interpreted this whole Lotusflow3r.com xperience as being a very rude "fuck u" from him 2 us.

& since i'm no so-called "hater" (never was, never will be), i really feel this is just so unfair 2 be treated like this.

Prince owes nothing 2 his fans as a man or as an artist, but he does owe something 2 his "customers" when he sells them a product.

Is this the final divorce between Prince and his core fandom, and do u share this feeling that he wanted it 2 happen and did everything in order 4 it 2 happen?

I think that if Prince were 2 launch another interweb venture, most of the same people who have been very angry and vocal about Lotus.com (and understandably so) would sign up in droves.

Well, I didn't sign up for the site knowing full well in advance Prince's history w/ websites & most of the folks bitching knew too. It doesn't make it right what he did but @ the same time you had to see it coming. He never said he would release all this music he said it was in the works & it might happen. He never promised to deliver anything except what he did. The whole reason I never signed up for the site was b/c he never promised anything or guaranteed any quantity of music outside the specified albums, so I waited until I heard of something, but all I heard was bitching, so there u go. I didn't get burned b/c I knew better so no hard feelings here. I am disappointed he did this to fans that support him, but we'll probably go through this all over again if there's another site. I was a member of the npgmusicclub b/c I kept hearing good things & music kept releasing, plus he changed the price to something more affordable... I'm sorry but anything more than $50 to a music site is absurd, and I'm not falling for it until I hear good enough reviews on it or until I hear I might actually get my money's worth.

So yes I hope this latest debacle makes a lot of u go somewhere where u can vent happy thoughts instead of venom. But what I think will happen is those of u who love to degrade will just intensify the hate becuse it the hate that fuels your life.
