Prince Clothing Label with CD.

Should Prince start a clothing label and include a new cd with the purchase. Defintely he has an eye for clothes for women and men. I say he not go on it on his own but partner up with the likes of Kimora Lee and distribute it through MACY stores.

Can people like you stop making thread headers as if they are fact when all they really are are inane ideas that pop in your head? I thought there were thread post limits etc. Jesus Christ you're a grown adult.

Let the moderator decide. Nay or yay on the header??

Getting back to the original question. In your opinion it may be an insane idea but I don't think P Diddy or JLO would agree with you.

1. It's not just this thread but several all the time making headers as if they were facts. Why not just add the ? to them etc? It makes it seem like you need to try to trick to get your thread read. Wack.

2. Just because (of all people ) Sean Combs and Jennifer Lopez does something...

Prince has been quite an innovator during the last few years of distributing his music. Whether its at a concert, book, retailers...etc.. The clothing line is another distribution point. When it done right such as the case of JLO and Sean Combs it can be very profitable as well. No doubt Prince has had a talented in house designers carrying out his vision in terms of clothing he wears along with his bandmates and associated artists. I think it would be absurd to limit one self that he would put out a line of clothing that you typically wear in concert but rather a style of clothing which would have a main stream appeal but with his own unique vision. Over the years Prince has had many famous designer friends whom hes worn clothing by. I think it would be an interesting synergy of those creative business and clothing talents to deliver a new cd.

1. Prince needs to stick to music. Period.
1.a) Unless he actually gets a known, professional, established team behind the project.

2. You need to stop baiting threads.

I wish. Because nothing would be better than listening to Jehovah Jazz while wearing an outfit like this...

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

This is a stupid idea for him.

Prince can't follow through with anything he does. He is still being sued (or is going to be) by the perfume company who created the 3121 cologne. He bitches about almost every distribution deal he's had. I mean, who the fuck is Prince to talk smack about Clive Fucking Davis????? He can't do anything good with any retail venture he undertakes. How many people didn't get t-shirts last year? How many people were getting the wrong ski jackets in 1997 or after when they ordered it?

Two more words: CRYSTAL BALL

Just make a record, and sell it. Period.

PS If the cartoony figures on the NPG Music Club site are any indication of Prince's style - they'd be overpriced, and shitty looking garments.

He had a clothing line in the works through JCPenney in the early 90s -- a "lite" version of the Gangsta Glam look. It never happened though.

R U serious! I know absolutely NO ONE that would wear some Prince shit. I know some flamboyant people and NONE of them would have nuthin to do with his clothes. He makes clothes that work for him and that's about it...as I see it. If he wanted to make sales he would have to me stuff that he wouldn't wear and it would kinda defeat the purpose. How many people got those T-shirts btw....EITHER time. And that's just a T-shirt.

f after I edit.

Thats right. The tshirt is secondary. The cd is what the consumer wants. Release it only thru indie record stores worldwide. Partner up with a large tshirt companies that specialiizes in rock tshirts. You see these tshirts all the time when you go into indie record stores. Release different unreleased Prince cd's with the shirts. Would you pass up a chance to buy a tshirt when you would be getting either the new, old, tour material with it. Now do u dig it?

I would love a CD with music on it.

Maybe it could be sold in special "record stores", so you could go there, maybe listen to a few snippets, then give the dude behind the counter like, i don't know, 10 or 12 bucks. Then, if all went well so far, he could hand you the CD, which could consist of the actual disc and maybe some kind of a plastic pack in which the disc is placed.
Hahaha, now my imagination is starting to overflow, but listen: What IF that plastic sleeve would be large enough to hold more than just the disc? What IF there would also be some kind of a "book" (well, a small "book", of course) inside? I know i'm raving, but it could contain some photos, maybe new pictures of Prince himself, and it COULD also contain the lyrics that belong.. yes, you got it.. the lyrics to THE SONGS ON THIS VERY CD! Isn't that a fab idea?

So for just 10 bucks, you could get 1) the music, 2) the lyrics to the music, to read them while listening, 3) some pictures to look at, and 4) all this nicely packed in a stable shell that could be stored in a shelf or whereever and would still look nice even in many years from now...

NOW THAT WOULD BE ACE!

I know that's crazy fantasizing, but every once a while a man's got the right to dream for a moment, or not?

I'd like to see Prince do a limited exclusive release cd with an added bonus cd at indie record stores. It would also even up the score with these stores as I recall Prince taking some flack from the indies for releasing cds thru concerts (Musiciology) and newspapers (London Planet Earth Giveaway). No doubt over the years these indies have been supportive of Prince since the begining of his career. Maybe even during the release do a quick hit n run acoustic tour at some of the tours and film it for a later dvd release. Would be great if his fans could actually vote from his unreleased back catalog and live performances as the added bonus cd. I guess that would be my dream for the moment as well!!
