He's my sweatheart but sometimes I wanna STRNAGLE this nigga's ass,,ya know what I mean?? Sho you do My problem is I'm a lil' bit too sweet 2ward everybody(esp youngsters who have no luck of listening to REAL music). NuPowerSoul-My big brotha is a decent fan of Prince and yes str8 and happy. But he ain't hardcore as his young shortie sistah(me ) there,,I'm kinda lucky to have "Mustafa". I hear you Harle... once you're secure in your own identity those things no longer bother you. But younger folk esp going through puberty/adolescence (as I was when Lovesexy was released) are tryin to find the right image to identify with so it's understandable why younger folk would be apprehensive toward someone presenting an image the departed from what's represented as the norm. Of course today there's a crisis of gender identity where (hyper-)masculinity is being promoted in the most basest of ways and people have some real effed up notions of what it is to be a man--that thug madness. But until real alternatives are presented tha's what folks are going to embrace. They just refuse 2 listen or anderstand. I had an argument with my young brotha an hour ago about Prince and the whole gay drama and now lol I'm just upset becoz I failed to correct that idea from his head.
I can't stand it when he(my young bruh) say "Why do you love queer niggas anyway??" A queer nigga?? UGH well, that all depends on who u talk to...the younger generation, todays teens, yea, most of them think this...but u get with the older generation, the ones who KNOW musical talent...they have mad respect for Prince...so i do not associate this with any type of knowledge whatsoever...it is associated with ignorance and todays society of what they THINK musical talent is... thanks to the media, both television and radio stations. I don't get too mad, in fact, I haven't heard it for awhile. But back in the day when I heard that I just got my brother to take care of it (he was a Prince fan too-and a wonderful "converter") and that was the end of that. ~KiKi

This is also (not entirely) about being underground again.
When Prince was breaking through to the mainstream (even before Purple Rain to a good extent), he got through to more straight males who were open-minded about music being performed by a flamboyant, androgynous short guy. He played rock guitar and stroked it like a wildman exercising his id, a la Jimi; he always had some women other males salivate over, he sang about what he wanted to do with and to women, what they could do to him... what most men only think in their minds or say privately, etc. And he was mainstream. Prior to the 1999 album and subsequently with Purple Rain, there was less of that type of mentality with straight males. He was that faggot with the high voice to most of them, it seems. Somehow when a flamboyant artist is on the charts, on video channels, and on the radio, people concede to liking some of his music, they forget about all the superficial junk, because he's being accepted more and more... Until he's back underground for years and people forget about him. The males secure in their own manhood always respected Prince's talent, even if it took a few years for him to put it together musically. The BOYS? Well that's another story. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I feel you...I think that Princefans in general are more open minded and are able to see the musicianship and not judge the image...and also acept the image of artists such as Prince and others. I always feel sorry that there are those who cant get passed image etc and appeciate music...or appreciate the image of a person or band for that matter ( they're scurred).I am damn glad my mind is free and open and exposed to it (and not just music-wise)..to be a Prince fan you are already a step above the average human being imho..but that also entails more pain etc because that kind of knowledge makes one able to see the awfulnes of others which is a burden of the open minded etc...but it must be weird and awful to think in the box under constraints and prejudices etc but then agin it may be bliss because you dont "know any better"...still..yuck. . I encounter this from a lot of guys!! There's only one way to explain to them that P is not gay: Pussy Control!! How many gay men have 1000's of songs about pussy and what they want to do to it!! To those who think P is that skinny faggot with the high voice: I betcha he gets more ass than you! I'm back!!!!!!!

This has always been an argument for me and the only way I can validate the claim that he isn't is through the lyrics. Many a gay entertainer has sung lyrics which were directed at women. (i.e. Sisqo, Luther Vandross, etc) But their lyrics don't suggest that they enjoy pussy. Prince's stuff is as poetic as "the thought of his tongue in the V of her love"...and as raunchy as "Ripopgodazippa...few flick of the pink plush and this brotha trippa" From the lyrics alone you can tell that the man enjoys him some pussy despite the androgenous undertones. I hate to make it sound vulgar, but if you listen you'll know it's truth.

Look if i visited you in high heels and wore pants with my ass out you might think i'm gay or bi. Prince carries himself in a femanine way. I thought he was gay when i first saw him. After annastesia i'm still not sure. He BLURS the gender lines, get real people. You would have to KNOW him to feel he wasn't gay. Irf based just on appearance(especially the early years) i'm sure 75% would have thought he was gay or at least bi.

Well, actually a singer's lyrics aren't proof of anything. There are many gay entertainers who will write lyrics as if they are heterosexual. Elton John, Boy George, George Michael, Freddie Mercury have all sang songs to women.

This is true but none of these Songwriters ever wrote about Pussy and Sex as much as Prince has. I would say No he definitely isn't Gay. No he Definitely is a Kinky Sexual Man and I am SURE he has Done numerous things Sexually.
