tracks mentioned on dawnnation

hey, I was looking at some of the tracks mentioned on dawn nation and was wondering if some people could give their opinions if they heard the studio versions of "Along the Watchtower" and "Best of U" - how do they sound compared to the superbowl versions. Also, did anyone hear the songs "Twisted" and "what should b souled"? Cheers

I heard the samples of Watchtower/Bestofu ,its hard to tell cuz the quality wasnt great at all. But judging from wat i did hear,i doubt its as good as the superbowl version.

I love the snippet played on the Howard Stern radio show.

Too bad they keep talking in over the track. sad

i think "what should be souled?" is a song from the rave era, circa 1999.

as far as i know it's not circulating and has never been heard. iirc it
was mentioned for possible inclusion on a second Crystal Ball set.

see, like... wouldn't things like All Along The Watchtower/The Best Of You or Turn Me Loose or the re-make of In A Large Room With No Light or Random Outtake #4598746 ... that he knows damn well he's not actually going to ever use for anything and whose day has passed.... were put up on the internet. He could, like charge $77 a year for access to these things....

just a thought confused

'Twisted' is a song written by Ross & Grey (that's all the info I have).

Joni Mitchell covered it on her 1974 album Court And Spark.

Prince played it some times during the ONA era.

Oh, that explains why I never heard of it, then. Between The Rainbow Children and The Chocolate Invasion, I cared less about Prince than I did before I ever heard of him. biggrin

That snippet of All Along The Watchtower/Best Of U actually sounds way better than the live version. Somehow more on-point, plus, his screaming is perfectly aggressive and on-key. Great, great. I wish I had it in perfect quality, full length.

I would hazard a guess that Prince records a 'clean version' of all the songs he rehearses/performs. Just so he can listen back to improve it etc, they are mainly not for public consumption - although he does occasionally release rehearsal versions on the web.
