Yeah, these were Xpectation, Chocolate Invasion, Slaughterhouse, C-Note and the WMA singles like Magnificent, etc.

But if you think about it - Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse were just songs from year one, recompiled. So if someone has year one stuff, they have those two albums, no? I wasn't aware of the C-Note thing. I just can't care about it, although I have it, to know when it was released.

I do have all those other files in MP3 though, that were originally WMA DRM

I bought them twice as some were offered in higher bitrates at a later date and folks had mentioned that some tracks were slightly different mixes.

No, several songs are different versions & "The Dance" wasn't released on NPGMC 2001.

Vavoom and S&M Groove immediately come to mind. The mixes on the albums were different from the year one releases.

There were also a lot of year one songs that haven't been re-released yet either. My Medallion, Jukebox with a Heartbeat, Hot Wit You (Club Mix), Murph Drag (from The Time), etc. have not been issued in any other form.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is any way of getting the music that was released onto the npgmusicclub. I was a member and downloaded everything but have lost it all over the years - is there any-where I can go to get it back?

Thanks.

Legally, there isn't.

On a whim, I checked my NPGMC downloads yesterday and none of them would play. I thought that somehow the DRM licenses went to the grave. It really wasn't a big deal since all are backed up multiple times to CD with the DRM bypassed, but I was still kind of pissed.

Seems all I had to do to get them to play was upgrade to the latest Windows Media Player. Just an FYI if anyone is having the same issue.

I have seen many more complaints about that. It seems the DRM was set up that way.

I *hate* the plastic years songs. I just can't stand them. lol

But, folks who paid for the npgmc memberships who got the downloads which are no longer working, I sympathize with. It wasn't an issue with me cause I stripped the DRM off my files, and honestly--i don't even know if I still have all the files, cause I just don't give a flying rats ass about those songs.

But what chaps my hide about each time that he shuts down one of his sites...one of his private "clubs"... is that any hope for a conduit of expression from the paying customers for help or to vent their concerns is extinguished. There's nobody to call. No customer service. NOTHING.

Has Prince or Paisley Park ever been reported to the BBB? Does anyone know?

Yep. That's a fairly recent change after Lotusflow3r launched - it was definitely an F before LF went online. I smell payoff.

I know. Shocking really. Everything I buy, I've listened to on Spotify to see if I like it. And anything out of print is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Rerelease Jill Jones Vanity 6 & the Family and I'll buy the buggers!

i totally agree! dont blame me for seeking out these songs.... make it easy for me and id gladly pay prince for them... but of course not!

There are only 11. One month the ONLY music release was The Rainbow Children, so don't think you're getting short changed. I think www.dawnation.com has a list of all that was released.

That was October 2001, and The Rainbow Children was originally one continuous track (like Lovesexy was). I for one was relieved when the CD version was released and it was tracked.

Coming off a year of digital-one-man-band sounding NPGMC songs, the release of The Rainbow Children was a sonic awakening. Lyric content is someone's preference, but no one can dispute that the music and his vocals are amazing.

I guess there was some recent Windows XP update that separated the DRMs from the older WMP or some voodoo shit like that.

I blame Larry.

I still don't get why people didn't convert the DRM files to something else (mp3, wav, etc). As soon as I got my DRM files, I converted them to wav format. Sure, I lost the video files, but I still have the audio files.

I thought the NPGMC would be around for a little while longer, so it wasn't as much a pressing matter. I think we're talking maybe $25 that I lost on his WMA files - vs. over $50 that I "lost" on LotusFlow3r.

I have some iTunes songs that still have DRM on them, and it doesn't cross my mind to circumvent them. Why? Because I know they're not going to pull the plug!

I always convert any drm protected file. Even if I don't do anything but burn an audio cd. Computers can crash at anytime. It's always smart to convert and save. As for the NPGMC being around, I never banked on it. This is Prince we're talking about. He changes his mind like the wind.
