What a terrible idea for so many reasons.If this film ever does actually happen, no doubt there would be a 'love interest' sub-plot, and like so many other middle-aged and older male main characters, his love interest would be some barely 21 year old twit (perhaps she'd be the catalyst to help him reconnect with today's younger audience blah blah blah)

I do agree that if Prince would allow professionals to write and direct, this film could be interesting and and a great idea.(never gonna happen, tho, imo!)

you know what prince should do as a film?

sit down in front of a camera, and be interviewd honestly, candidly, and without the riddled prince speak. talk about his favorite 15 songs. talk about his life, talk about his career. without going overboard and preachy, talk about his faith.

intercut those with him in concert. one night only, stripped down music, all the 15 songs he says are his favorites from his entire career. an acoustic, an electric, a big hit, and so on... some obscure, some big hits.

it would be great to see him let down the character he wants to play in the media, and just be down to earth and real. an intelligent and intelligble musical legend marking almost 30 years of brilliant music.

but someone else has to edit, direct, shoot, and such.

Prince is a bitter, lonely old man living in some slum. He hasn't played an instrument for years.

One day a little kid with a guitar turns up and begs Prince to teach him how to play it. Because, you see, there's this other boy at school, an ex Jehova's Witness who has sold his soul to the devil, and now looks like Steve Vai and can play the guitar like no-one else. And 'Steve Vai' is gonna steal his girlfriend away! And, oh yeah, try to brainwash a million people at a huge free concert in Beverly Hills, He will create an army of Devil's Guitarplayers and take over the world!

Prince refuses, saying Jehova stole his muse, but when the boy confiscates his high heels, he gives in. Prince must flex his fingers, pick up that guitar again, and prepare the boy for the guitar battle of the century.

Oh yeah.

seriously,I think a new film would inspire Prince to make an incredible soundtrack.He would bring out the heavy artillery! Maybe he could re-work some of his best outtakes from the past,and create a stunning masterpiece??

Is this an early April Fool's joke? It sounds ridiculous. Any good reporter would research and know that Graffiti Bridge is the "sequel" to that.

Once again, the movie will touch on his own experiences. The ambitious character he played in the original, "The Kid," is now a famous 50-year-old, with no record contract and forced to compete with younger artists in an unrecognizable music industry.

If this is gonna happen, it better start filming … yesterday. Prince wants an Oscar for his score, and already he is talking about how he’ll knock ‘em out performing on next year’s Academy Awards. (Apparently, he was offered a slot on this year’s show, but declined. Interesting. I can’t imagine the people behind the Oscarcast were planning on having him do the Neil Patrick Harris number?!)

However, Prince would have really livened up Oscar. I’ll never forget him at the MTV Video Music Awards way back in the day. He wore skintight pants that were revealing enough from the front. He was a guy, for sure. Then he turned around and only a sheer layer of fishnet stood between Prince and total exposure.

Spike Lee once said that he would love to do a movie with Prince.This would be the perfect opportunity.

I fu**in love Prince - as a musician - since decades, but i don't consider him a reasonable actor, period. To be honest - nobody, i say absoluteley nobody in this world except for real Prince fans can sit through more than 15 minutes of ANY film he ever made, face that... So a superstar director like Spike Lee could do better things in my opinion than waste a lot of time and money on a Prince project. If he's still in it for fun, I'll be loving it for the mere fact of it. Then I'll watch the film in anticipation and make up my opinion afterwards. It's just that i don't expect anything from movie projects that have Prince involved, and i found the idea of Spike Lee getting ready for a sequel of PR kinda funny. Still, i do believe what SoulAlive said might be true, but that wasn't the point here.
