Old fashioned music - Old ideas

"Your old fashioned music, your old ideas. We're sick and tired of you telling us what to do!" - New Power Generation. Prince.

I was listening to this the other day and it struck me that Prince seems to have turned into what he used to be against. He now tries to takes us 'old skool' at gigs. He plays old covers. Goes on about how music sounded 'back in the day' and preaches about what we should and shouldn't do.

I know he's still forward thinking in many ways... but I do think he's turned into the person he used to want to push aside. Do people think this is just a natural trait of getting old? I reckon if the young Prince talked to the Prince of now, the young Prince would be like "get oughta my way fool!"

What do you all think?

I think it's old just to say something like "I reckon..."

I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary for an older person. My mom is the same way, she's always talking about "back in the day" this and "back in the day" that. But I'm sure when she was a kid, it annoyed her when older folks would say that just the same way it annoys people my age today. I can't say it annoys me personally because I'm an old soul, I love hearing about "back in the day" lol.
"I pride myself on working with great musicians, and I consider her to be as such. She's an amazing talent, the real deal." Prince on Beyoncé ♥

I think it's self improvement-not thinking old. One must strive to be the best they can and I'm sure there are things that Prince has done that he wishes he could forget-don't we all. He's damn near 52 so something was gonna change whether we like it or not. It happens to us all wink

oh yeah... i'm not complaining. i just found it interesting that he seems to be turning into the kind of guy he would rebel against in the past.

Well, even Prince had to grow up eventually.
I wouldn't use the term "getting old" I'd call it wisening up.

That's exactly it. He's become what he used to shun and almost despise. It's like trying to not become your parents. It almost always happens.
