She screams with her chest voice, letting the falsetto do the vibrato, but Prince simply compresses it all in his throat - therefore there would be no need to "wheeze" afterwards, as Rosie always has to. We need the bootleg recording of the scream's origin! (Kind of like the beginning of Acknowledge Me is on The Line, right?)
Personally I believe it to be Rosie (if actual people involved in the recording said it was Rosie). Even back in 1992, I thought I had never heard that kind of tone to Prince's scream, and have not since. But I have heard Rosie get into that range somewhere back in all that music.
