Yes, it was a series of 21 concerts played at London's new O2 arena in August 2007, by Prince. Apparently they were all very well received and some lucky fans went to every show. The same arena was where Michael Jackson was to have played a series of 50 concerts at, before his sudden passing away.
But more likely the event was more remembered for the over hyped and horrendously tragic vanity book and CD set. Which featured an over priced book that promised poetry and photographs, and mostly it was a series of vanity images with very little memorability and nonsensical gibberish and the CD consisted of a very weak set of songs recorded live, that were his weakest effort since The Rainbow Children or Chaos and Disorder. Many fans bought the set and pre ordered it, only to find it very disappointing, and fortunately it was forgotten when Lotusflow3r arrived a few months later. In 2009 a company called Opus tried to repackage the set with an ipod and a Number 1 edition that featured the item with a Prince symbol with diamonds in it. It apparently has not been a success, mainly due to its ridiculous price, standard editions cost $2000, and the NO1 was auctioned for an undisclosed sum. (Please correct me if you know what this was, or if the item did not sell). It was another example of Prince trying to cash in on his mammoth ego and vanity judgements getting the way of common sense. Not the first time and not the last time he will do this. I really enjoyed the 2 main Prince concerts + 1 aftershow I saw in the fall 2007 Prince selling out 21 main shows + a lot of aftershows, I believe Prince still holds the record at the O2 Arena, since Michael Jackson died? - [Edited 3/13/10 16:12pm] [Edited 3/13/10 16:12pm] Prince 4Ever. | |
