only with a different style of music and message; contemporary Prince music is similiar 2 me, in that there's always a spiritual dimension to it. now, do I personally need a gospel cd from him? no, but it would be appreciated, esp to hear Prince be direct instead of dropping subtle messages here and there Really? Interesting. Reggae came out of Jamaica, and it took me a while to like it. I liked Calypso music better, as far as music from the West Indies. But I never associated reggae with flavors of gospel. I have been listening to a lot of reggae in the last half year that I spent in T&T living with my bf who does reggae music himself. The message (praising Jah) can be compared to gospel IMO. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

if he could pull of something like Johnny Lang's Turn Around (funkiest gospel song EVA) or Kirk Franklin's Stomp then YES- P GO FOR IT! "Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

Several years ago I gave him a cassette with a bunch of really old gospel songs on it...I have no idea if he ever listened or not. Yes. That's what I thought. There's a big difference between traditional gospel songs and songs that just have religious overtones. I think peeps in the non Prince section might be more familiar with the type of gospel you're referring to...except for Andy and 2elijah, Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I think Prince could pull a gospel or Christian contemporary lp off,if he wanted to.He could use the Lake Lure Singers for back-up vocals in the studio. If also i could only fine O'shea. If only Prince could've heard O'shea sing 16 years ago,not for a record deal, but to be amazed at O'shea's God given gift.Lake Lure Singers are going to be at my Church this Sunday night.I can't wait to hear them sing. They are from a small and predominantly African-American Church, and you haven't heard singing yet, until you've heard them sing for their Lord Jesus Christ and the Almighty God.

I think peeps in the non Prince section might be more familiar with the type of gospel you're referring to...except for Andy and 2elijah, I have never understood why people think that gospel or religious songs have to be traditional sounding, or in other words, boring. At my mother's funeral a few years ago, I had them to play "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday" by GC Cameron and "Jesus Is Love" by The Commodores which are great songs that could pass for religious but aren't boring. I mentioned them to my sister beforehand and she was fine with them and I also mentioned "Do Not Pass Me By" by MC Hammer (I knew I was pushing it but it didn't hurt to ask ) and she said she was fine with it but a fast song like that would give the older family members a heart attack, especially the white side of my family. I did tell her though that when I die, she better go through my records and CDs and have them to play "Let's Go Crazy" by Prince, "Holy Ghost" by The Barkays, "I Feel Sanctified" by The Commodores", and "Jesus Is Just Alright" by The Doobie Brothers. I just don't see anything wrong with gospel or religious songs being fun and funky even when played in a religious setting or service. Hell, if church weren't so boring, I'd be in it every Sunday and so would a lot of other people. We just need to stop associating religion with boring things because this ain't the 1400s. I honestly don't know why people think God would frown on having his house of worship being a place that gets his word out in an entertaining way rather than being a place that people dread to go to because it's so dull. . . .
