If I was Prince I would do exactly what he does which is what he wants. Too many of his fans are way to critical, I mean he will never be able to release another great cd because no matter what the haters will talk shit. Funny to me so many "fans" would waste their precious time listening to such uninspired new music. Yet where is their work? | |

Sometimes I wonder if Prince is being true to himself. I think Rainbow Children and his exploration in jazz was his last "real" work. I'm amazed that anyone could enjoy the majority of the music he is releasing today. I truly think he has totally lost touch of something within himself. It's called selling out, I think. Still, it's not working for him.
It's funny how he led the charge of music distribution in the early stages of the internet. Yet, now he doesn't quite understand how it works. The difference of tone in these forums since I joined a long while ago shows the disintegration of his support. | |

And have you ever wished you had the power to look inside his mind, reading his thoughts... to get some answers to all this ? well I have wondered about it, (don't laugh) and maybe this is the reason why Prince treats his own fanbase badly: the famous danish film director Lars Von Trier said on TV something about what is inspiring for an artist, and what is least inspiring. according Von Trier: PRAISE is what is least inspiring, it is very reducing (restricting?) for an artist's creativity if an artsist always gets praise all the time ... - on the other hand it is very inspiring when an artist gets resistance. So there you have it: according this little "analysis" Prince doesn't like praise too much because it works restricting on him as a creative artist, he likes resistance from the invironment surround him. Maybe that is why he is treating the fanbase badly sometimes, he likes to create a little turmoil once in a while, he likes to "play" with us, he likes the resistance from the fans, cuz this is more inspiring for him than all the positivity and praise. Do you believe me..... or does this sound like I am nuts to you...?

My work is at my workplace. I'd think most of us work as hard as we can so we can buy whatever he deems fit to put out, keeping him in the luxurious lifstyle he's accustomed to, Prince certainly doesn't help put food on my table, though he's free to call me and critique my work skills if he likes. i think even non-fans have the right to critique art and indeed Prince's expert thievery skills via his website, never mind long-term paying fans. |

Yeah kind og agrees with you, though I enjoyed "Breaking The Waves" (1996) and "The Idiots" (1998). I haven't seen his latest "Anti-Christ" (2009), and I don't intend to do so. It includes some explicit violence, I hate violence in movies. Prince 4Ever.  | |
