BOSE!!!

No way, if you want the creme de la creme you have Bang & Olufsen...

When I was working in a Bang & Olufsen shop last year I always brought my Prince CDs and DVDs with me to work.

I tell you listening and watching Rave on DVD on the new Bang & Olufsen Plasma (BeoVision 5) linked up to their DSS with BeoLab 1s at the front and BeoLab 6000s at the rear and to top it off with the subwoofer the BeoLab 2 is just heaven.

If you do not believe me then try to go into your local Bang & Olufsen shop and ask if you can have a go with your Rave DVD.

And you will believe me!!!

Try a single-ended Class A tube amp and hear what things REALLY sound like. But you have to be prepared to hear it all...including the blemishes. I'd played ONA Live on several systems, but didn't notice that Rhonda's bass is slightly out of tune on the first track until I popped it into the "listening room" system. Whoa!

But you can also hear every shuffle, twitch and tick of the band, the differences in the sounds of the various halls and other details that truly put you at the very center of the music.

Bose??!! Bang & Olufsen??!! Give me a break - sure, some of this kit is ok, but high-end?? Nah!

You want high end? In the UK you need kit by Kef, M&K, Musical Fidelity, TAG Maclaren, Monitor Audio. And that's just "everyday people" high-end, you can pay prices you would not believe!

In the US (and still available to the UK), for amps it has to be Krell and CDs, Wadia - but your talking serious dollars! I can only dream of owning Krell or Wadia at the moment, but my kit performs extremely well for a mid to high-end set-up. ONA definitely sounds just like being there!! And for those who keep saying "You need to listen to that album on headphones" I say, "You need to hear that album on a decent system!!" - if you really want to hear all the details and tricks that went in to a recording, nothing tops a well-sorted hi-fi!

Hi Oceana - I have a fair bit of experience in putting together decent seperate systems for varying budgets. If you need any help when it comes to the time, just let me know, I'd be glad to advise.
