Lets discuss "The Undertaker" film

With so much negativiy on the org about the lotus site and etc,Ive decided bring up this topic. This film really shows off Prince's guitar skills, especially during Bambi. Ive heard this got a official vhs release only in the UK right? was this film posted on the lotus site in it entirety?

It's officially released in Japan, too. I agree that the film captured great moment with Prince's guitar work.

If only "Dolphin" had the original recording sound sad

It's yet ANOTHER depiction of women as being wayward or weak.

The performances were great, gritty, and raw. But the seque snippets of the girl obsessed with him, and drowning in pills, is just fucking ridiculous.

Prince has a definate 'Lolita' character that seems to keep popping up in his music. Songs like "Darlin Nikki", "Sister", Lolita", "Do it Like She Like it", and the list goes on and on, all involve women who are morally corrupt and weak. Prince is always having to 'work extra hard to keep them from cheating (cause you know women will cheat unless you train them right) or he preaches to them that they shouldn't try and interrupt his monogamous lifestyle or cause him to stray, etc. etc.
The themes change a bit from time to time, but it always involves a woman who should know better and who needs his 'morally steadfast guidance'.

I mean, does this man think women are just weak sluts who need him to step in and compete with one of thier many suiters, then set them down a monogamous path? I mean, REALLY? R-E-A-L-L-Y? lol

I always had in my mind what it would look like, after hearing the songs... but it was nothing like I imagined (and stupid). The music kicks ass though. Would've rather had that with Crystal Ball instead of Kamasutra!

The correct title of this song is Sleep Around.

Agreed. I thought the combination of The Undertaker and The Sacrifice Of Victor video was a nice presentation of how he could play different kind of music so nicely.

The puking bit isn't on the audio version that was supposed to be with the guitar magazine. For years all I had was a rip off the video (and then laserdisc via dvd). The drum intro to the ride doesn't fade in (well, michael builds to a crescendo), and dolphin is a little bit longer with some extra vocal...

the pirate from japanese laserdisc with the sacrifice of victor on it is well worth the cash wink
Got my mojo working...it just don't work on you!

The Film was also released in Germany on VHS!

I must say that the live Interpretation of those Songs are not that great.
His vocals on most of those songs are scary weak...I was really shocked back then and now...his guitar-playing is also not that great..He often tends to make only shit noises with his guitar..Boy, Thats not real playing...

I showed this once to some musicians and they only shock their heads... confused ! The reaction said it all....

I love the music, especially his version of the Undertaker. This version of the Ride is also my favorite. The story line is not all that out there. If you were around during those years and at Paisley Park parties there were a lot of what has been called "Lolitas" prancing around, i.e. nude women showing up in see through rain coats...

That's the best version, hands down. My favourite prince guitar solo of all time.

I have that laserdisc and it is my fav - I skip right to Bambi and turn it all the way up. Best Prince guitar work this side of the Hall of Fame performance.
