As a long time Prince Fam(45 yrs old), I have reasoned that Prince will not follow traditional business models, even when the tried and proven path is the Correct path. Prince has tried two major websites and neither are in existence. NPG ceased due to copyright violations(so they say) and Lotusflow3r just stopped. Hey Prince, start a Prince Music Club(PMC). AeroSmith, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi and others, all have Traditional websites that have presented and will present for future generations, a broadcast of their music, videos, Bios, and current News. There is nothing wrong with going with the flow every once in a while. Since Prince is not under a distribution contract with a Major label, the radio stations will not play his current or distant past releases. Only releases that took place under Major label distribution will get the most play(exceptions to every rule apply). Prince, if you want to attract, inspire and capture new fams, and musicians, you have got to re-evaluate your Marketing Strategy. Only us Old Schoolers know you. Musicology, I thought, was your bridge to a younger generation. Most young people that I am around, have not heard of 3121, some heard of Planet Earth(English Newspaper release and controversy) and some saw you perform on Leno with Lotusflow3r. I wish a Marketing Team, not Yes Men and Women, can help you for future endeavors. Please give it a Thought!!!

You do understand that after he reads this, which he'll certain do so before the end of the day, that he'll quickly implement the plan based upon the merits alone, and you may end up being chased and followed by reporters asking how you changed and saved his online presence, right?

As a long time Prince Fan, even I know it is folly to even suggest such things. If he wanted a site, there would be a site. He's had a music club in the past and no longer does. Do you think Prince doesn't know how to market or people haven't told him? I think he has his own plan and that he simply has moved away from the technology that he embraced because it no longer serves his interest.

IMO, I think the plan is to keep making music and forget about music he's made. It might be a brilliant plan especially if everything eventually goes out of print. He only has 3 years to wait until all of the masters and rights are his for his first album. And he'll get them back (you know he will) and will either celebrate it by re-releasing each album each year as he gets them or will simply let them go on to become the most sought out music of all time.

Some people here seems to agree in Prince reading our posts everyday? Does that mean we haven't our say? Well, I don't think so.

Prince's biggest problem and his greatest strength is his alternate way of doing things. The NPGMC was a great innovation and really changed the landscape of how the internet thing is done, only after it closed he didn't follow it up quickly enough and let it kinda die.

He tried to take that side of things further with Lotusflow3r and got it wrong, it just didn't do as well as he thought it would, people weren't prepared to part with hard earned £'s or $'s for a site that may last a few months.

As alot of people have said, a normal 'Prince' website, with Bios, news updates, CD sales and a (not too over indulgent) download section would be cool, and probably get Prince back in the frame of an ever diverse music industry.

All Prince really has at the moment as far as main stream websites go is right here on the .org so he should be appreciative of what sites like this do for him.

Anyway, that's my little rant over, just hope Prince has a quick look over some of these forums sometime's, just to get an idea of what the 'fams' think, a little good advice often goes a long way Prince....
